Garnishments done on my check

Do you have the company's name who garnished your wages? What kind of debt is this for?

Do you owe any student loans, back child support, or any other federal debt. They don't need to go to court to garnish your check. I would check with your payroll department, they should know who did this.

nope, that is the thing i have not receiveed anything i have never gone to court or gotten a notice to go. i pick up my check and it says wage garnishment 125.00. I only make 400 every 2 weeks! this is nuts!

Ok..If it's a court ordered garnishment, then your employer is obligated to give you a copy of the writ prior to the garnishment beginning, no matter what state you are in. Do you have any PDLS? My money is on this being an assignment. I am an HR rep, can you tell me where on your check it says garnishment? If you can tell me where it says that then I can tell you if I'm right. If it is an assignment, your HR was not obligated to give you a copy of the paperwork, although it's definitely ethical!!! I would!

Call your payroll dept IMMEDIATELY and ask who did this. Even if it wasn't court ordered, they still have to tell you why they are doing it! Ask for a copy of any orders allowing them to do it.

Need to know how much they will deduct from my check at 25 percent of 1489.
