I sent out letters to my online payday lenders. Included in the letter i offered a payment plan and told them how much i legally owed them. This is the letter i got from one of them. I don't know what to do next. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP.

Quote:

This letter is notice that the above loan is now in default. This default has occurred as the result of the closure of your account at **************** bank. Your non-payment is a violation of the consumer loan agreement and promissory note which you signed.
Your account is being forwarded to a national collection agency. If you do not respond to their attempts to contact you, your default will be reported to the major credit bureaus, which will severely impair your ability to obtain credit in the future.
To avoid these actions, you must contact me within 5 business days of this receipt of this letter. This notice will serve as evidence against you in this matter, and will be employed in any legal proceedings against you.

watermiler, it sounds like just a generic response they are using to scare you. I thought I read on a previous post that most of the pdl companies don't report to the credit bureaus. What pdl company sent you this message? Did you send a wage assignment revocation to the companies as well? Don't stress too much about the letter. You will more than likely be receiving a couple more from the other pdl companies as well.

I'm sure some of the moderators in here will give you some good guidance as to what to do next. Have a good weekend.

I agree, that does sound like a generic scare tactic. Continue to make the payment arrangements that you set up..And make sure you send them certified mail and keep the receipts. Don't worry, you will be ok. You may get some ugly threats from some companies, but remember that's all they are..threats. These people are breaking the laws and robbing people blind.

I'm sorry to say this is not a scare tatic. I have been sent to a collection agency by Magnum and they have put it on my credit report as a negative mark. On top of that they keep charging interest. I would keep making payments but try to pay it off as soon as you can.

Someone I know, like a dummy knowing what I went through, took out 2 loans through Magnum Cash Advance. I think he paid back the first one and then the second one he has had payments returned to them. I think he borrowed like $600 and was having to pay back over $800. His wife just told me they received this letter too. She is really worried about what they might do. I told her that they were a payday loan company and were that payday loans were illegal in NC. She is really ticked off and said she was leaving this to her husband, who should have known better.
