My husband just went on disability and I am the only one who is working. We fell behind on our utiliy
bills, car payments and we have not paid our taxes. The ulitiy compies will not work with us so there fore our gas has been shut off. Threr has been times where I do not have gas for my car to get to work. We barely have money for food. I just do not know what to do. My car also will be going into repo.

Does your city have community action? Most of them do and they will probably help you since your husband is on disability. Also, depending on your husbands disabilty, if it is hazardous to his health to have the gas shut off then his doctor can right a letter to get it turned back on.

Leah is exactly right. I would call your husband's doctor's office and they could fill out a letter (it's a form letter with fill in the blanks) and even fax it to the gas company for you. I would either do that or walk it in, since your gas is already shut off. Don't trust the mail on this one.
If this doesn't work, I would try the Salvation Army or other charities in your area. In my town, the Salvation Army does help with back utility bills, so definately try them.
Is your husband getting any state disability income? If it's late, they will probably send him a retro check for the difference.
Regarding your car, check to see if they have programs for when someone is out of work. That could possibly help. Good luck and let us know what happens!
