Sorry for the ranting, but I am so upset that I am at wits end.

Sad..
Can you buy a cheaper pump until you have enough cash to purchase a good one? Of if it's possible, try to fix up the old one only by doing small repairs, as a temporary fix

I had the same problem with the septic pump awhile back, and I ended up having to buy a smaller cheaper pump until I could afford to get the correct size for my septic system and to my relief the thing is still working 9 months later, I figure I'll just use the smaller one until it goes out but as of now it's just fine. I know it may not sound too wonderful of a thing to do, but until you can get it fixed it may be a good idea not to flush the tissue. True you will have to empty the bathroom trash more often but it will help not to fill up the tank so fast. Just thought I would put my two cents in for what it's worth.

I know how ya feel! Seems like that crap happens to me all the time....I hope you can find an affordably solution for you! I wish I could help ya more but I know nothing about those things.....

OMG 2nband - it must be the week for plumbing! the hot water shut off valve on my not water tank sprung a leek yesterday and I cam home from work to a sopping wet carpet in the dinette! (I don't have a basement). Well by the time that I found out exactly where it was leeking from and got down to the nearest Home Depot - they were ready to close! So today after 3 trips to the local hardware store and one trip to HD and four hours trying to make everything fit in a very small space - I now have hot water! A soaking wet carpet -but hot water! Just call me Josephine the plumber! Now to your little problem- is there any place aroung you that sells rebuilt pumps? This may be a cheaper solution and something that you might want to look into.

Major relief!!!! My husband and neighbor got the pump going!! They figure that since the tank hand not been emptied in who knows how long (we have only been in the house a year), that all the sludge that was on the bottom was causing some problems. When they pulled the pump out and looked at it, they could tell it was a fairly new pump. I am really thankful for our neighbor. He is very knowledgeable in these types of things along with many others. Heck, he built a new addition to his house, 2 stories, himself and his boys. So my pump is working again. I am so relieved!!! Just hated paying the $320 out to have the tank cleaned out, but had to be done. Now have to let the people my car is financed through that that payment is going to be late. It has be a totally stressfull day!

Oh Irish ~ I have had that happen before too and it is a mess to clean up! We just have a small shop vac and it too forever to clean all the water out of the carpet. I am so praying that the rest of this week will go well. I really don't know how much more I can handle. For the past few weeks, I have been running on just a few hours sleep a night, mind constantly running and when I do sleep, I don't rest. Work has been stressfull, still having the heart palputrations, major headaches, just everything that can go wrong has.
KS, I will be checking my policy in case something like this happens again!

Thanks Steeler. I am too. My daughter came up to me a little bit ago and asked if she could finally go to the bathroom! LOL I told her to go for it. She ran out of the room saying "Thank goodness....was ready to go out in the woods to pee and chance the ticks!" It was too funny.

Oh I'm so glad your husband and neighbor got the pump going. We had our septic system cleaned out a couple of months ago and it cost us about $250. Hubby didn't have time to dig a hole for them to get to it so they charged us forty bucks for that. But it was backing up into our shower and bathtub so it was worth it!!

I'm so glad things are up and running again - septic problems are NO fun!
See if your insurance agent can look into a septic backup rider on your policy.

We had to find where the lit to the tank was and dig it up. I would have rather paid $240 than $320!
No, my daughter wasn't laughing, at least at the time. She has laughed about it since, but at the time, she didn't think things were so funny.
We have been running so far behind on what we wanted to get done because of this problem and now I am sure we will be up late tonight and early tomorrow. I feel like I am just about ready to drop, but gotta keep going and get this stuff done.
Tomorrow I get to shampoo carpets! What fun...hope no major stuff tomorrow.

2nband - If I were in your shoes I would forget scrubbing the carpet! I would buy some of that foam cleaner and a bottle of fabreeze and then I would relax. You are having house guest and things get dropped on the carpet and spilled. I would shampoo after the guest leave. You need to recoup and have a good time this week. When is your graduation? My two are walking on the 7th. BooHoo! And I am with your daughter on the tick thing. I would have used a coffe can before I went into the woods!

I hear ya - on Tuesday we were watching tv and pop snap - no picture, smoke pouring out the back we flipped out that it was on fire....only 7 years old and we paid $500 buckos for it too....so yeah who could pull that out of their behind to replace. Gotta watch a 13 inch for a while  Always seems like just when you start to get somewhere, aint it? sigh

2nband...so glad things worked out. That kind of thing happens to me all the time too...just when we think we are getting ahead something unexpected like that happens. Hope you are able to get some rest in.
dalfire...sorry about your tv. We had one go out on us last summer like that too...it was about the same age.

Well, need to shampoo today because my son and my aunt's son are going to be sleeping on the floor in the living room and my daughter will be sleeping on the floor in her room. Not only that, with 3 dogs in and out of the house, I want them a little cleaner than they are.
Did make it to the store this morning and I have a pot of homemade chicken soup on the stove and a crock pot making some homemade spaghetti sauce. Am just about done with laundry, except sheets. Cannot do any outside work today because it is raining off and on, which we really need, so have everyone working in the house. My husband is going to help me with the carpets when he gets home.
The guy that did our septic said to also use yeast in the septic because it creates bacteria, which will help break things up, so we have done that along with some septic stuff that we had. I had never heard of yeast, but hey, worth a try!
Dalfire, sorry to hear about the tv. I am glad I have several TV's in the house in case one goes kaput!
I have not had much rest, went to bed around midnight but could not sleep. Watched TV until about 2 got up at 6, took a shower and have been going every since. Hopefully can get done soon with everyone's help. Outside will just have to wait.

Znband, what a nightmare to go through, but what a relief in the end! Glad to hear you were able to fix the problem without spending several hundreds on it.

Thanks dbaker ~ so was I. Still not happy that I had to put out so much money but thankful that it wasn't worse. What is bad now it the car payment is going to be late and I have to get my utilities paid before they get shut off! Going to contact the utility company and see if they will give us until Friday to get it paid, since that is when we next get paid. Hopefully they will.
Now my latest thing is I have a sensor going out in my car! Already replaced one last year and it was about $275, that included labor. Just what I need! My husband says he hates these cars with all this computerized stuff. You know what they say, when it rains it pours. I swear, if it weren't for bad luck, I would not have any at all.
Totally sucks!

2nband,
I'm so sorry to hear that you are struggling with all this. I can relate to how you feel but it does get better. Do you know someone who can change the sensor for cheaper? My husband did ours and it saved big $$$.

I am working on that. Most of the people we know can do things on the older cars, but the newer ones, well, that is another store. Even my brother, who is a mechanic, won't do it. He won't even do his own car because of all the computer stuff. My husband is going to check at his job and see if anyone knows anything about these things. Oh what a fun time I have been having...NOT!!!
You know, I am not a drinking woman, but darn if I don't think I am about ready to start! :?
Wow, you must have a really new car. Mine are a 2000 and 2001.
Wow, you must have a really new car. Mine are a 2000 and 2001. I hope your husband can find someone. What kind of car is it? Maybe hubby can give you some tips. It's worth a shot :)
