I have the same story as most everyone else. I took a loan to get some groceries for the month. It seemed so easy. Then they started hitting my account with huge bi-weekly fees. I took another to help pay that off. And then again, and again. I now have 4 total and seriously am hurting. Summer is here in Phoenix and I can't even afford to get my little girl clothes- not even from the thrift store. I am lucky to have just a few extra dollars after paying all of these loans and trying to stay on top of my other stuff. What can I do? I know they are operating illegally in Arizona. I know the max apr is 15%- they are charging upwards of 100%. I can't even afford to pay for stop payment fees because I have no money. Please somebody help.

What about talking to a lawyer or asking for help with electric, food, etc. I normally depends on hwo much you make but if you explain your situation I am sure they could help.
There are food and clothing banks that you could check into. If she has sun dresses from last summer they work as shirts the following year.
Churches can also help.

Yes - Follow kscornells advice immediatly - Close that account! That way you can regain control of your finances and pay for the more important things.

When you do close the account, be sure to ask your bank what their policy is on ach transactions going through on closed account. Some banks will force the closed account back open and allow the transaction to go through. This leaves you -$1000's to the bank. If your bank does do this, explain your situation and ask them to put one of the following on your account before it is closed: 1. A Hard Hold - this will prevent any activity at all on the account. 2. Place the account on Deposit Only - this will make it so that only credits will be posted to the account, so nothing can force it open. 3. ACH Block - this will block any ach transactions. Some banks won't tell you about these options, and some will say they can't do it. Don't take no for an answer. It could be useful to print out some of the threads on this site about pdl companies fraudulantly taking money from people's accounts. That way you can show the bank that you are proactivly trying to avoid fraudulant activity on your account.

When kscornell said to revoke any voluntary wage assignments this is what they are:

Some pdl's put a clause in the contract saying that once you default you give them permission to directly take the money owed from your paycheck. It's like a garnishment, only completly voluntary. All you have to do is send them a letter certified mail that says "I revoke any and all wage assignments I may have signed with Company X." Also, revoke any authorization to debit in any way any account you have.

Thanks for responding everyone. I bascially have the same stories as everyone else. I have 5 PDL totaling around $2500. Two are deliquent- and surprisingly neither of them are calling me- One Click Cash and Southwest Check Cashing.
CashNetUSA- 500
OneClickCash-480
Geneva Roth Ventures-500
Southwest Check Cashing- storefront-500
Tremont Financial-500

These amounts are the principal amounts.

I have sent letters to each of these companies revoking their ACH rights. Not a single one listened to me- they all went right ahead and withdrew money from me accounts. As far as I could tell from a little research not a single one of them are licensed in Arizona. Also- from what I can tell they are supposed to only charge 15% for loans in my state.

I am going to the bank right now- I am going to ask for a Statement of Unauthorized Debit- a form I read about online. Hopefully they can help me a little. Cross your fingers for me- but I still will need to know what to do after I stop these and start getting the calls.

I was contacted this morning by a company called Consumer Counseling of America- the offices of Richard A Brennan basically-and being that his reputation is not so hot- I decided to hold off on that company for now.

You are off to a good start . . . Tremont I know does do the wage assignment thingy, so be sure not to forget to revoke it asap!

You will need to concentrate on the storefront loan first. They are most likely legal and can take you to court over the loan. Talk to them and see if they will let you set up a payment plan. Something most people don't know about storefronts - Once you default, you stop paying those astronomical fees! You will be able to set up payments on the balance and go from there.

Ok- so I just logged on to Tremont to get their info- and I acutally only owe $160 left on that one- so I can pay that one off pretty easily.

What about these others? Do you know of any of them that will do a wage assignment? I am kinda new here at my company and don't want any of them being able to call and ruin things for me. It's a very SMALL office so word would get around quickly that I am having financial difficulties.

Any help you give is great. I contact T&C Acceptance. They seem nice- but I worry about how quickly they can get things rolling. because I am current with most of these- I don't want things to get out of hand you know?

I have been in contact with the storefront place- they seem ok with working with me- I just haven't been able to afford anything because of these other loans- but T&C said they can work with all of these lenders. They do charge a heafy fee though- $195.

Crud. I forgot one- it's BIG Ltd. I totally forgot about this one because they changed their name to Rovinge or something like that- so I disputed it with my bank because I didn't authorize that company- at the time I didn't realize they were one in the same.

You need to see if these companies are operating legally. If they aren't, you would only be responsible for paying them back the principal amount borrowed. I would concentrate on the legal ones first. Store fronts are usually legal. With internet PDLs, the only one I found to be legal in my state (Ohio) was Cashnetusa. If you provide us with the name of the state you live in, we can help you check.

Oh- sorry. I live in Arizona. I looked on the link below- and as far as I can tell they are not legally operating her in AZ. They are also charging a lot in fees- doing more than three extensions/rollovers- and the AZ limit is 3. What are those rules and regulations? Does anyone know?
