I just sent pif requests via email to 3 internet lenders: Cash Direct Express/GECC, Geneva Roth Capital, and World Wide Cash. Has anyone sent them pif requests before, and how long did it take to get a response?


Don't get discouraged if you don't hear back from them right away. Sometimes it takes a while for them to respond.

While you are waiting for them to respond, be sure to file complaints against them with your ag, banking dept, bbb, and anyone else that will take the complaint. That can help speed up their response sometimes . . . .

I just got done sending another letter to National Opportunities. It isn't a PIF, but I calculated I still owe them $131.50 and I revoked their right to debit from my checking account any longer and notified them that I would be sending the remainder either via money order or cashier's check. I am closing my account on Friday after I get my direct deposit, plus I do have a stop payment on file with the bank. Now if I do all this, is there still a possibility they can try to debit from the old one, thereby forcing a payment to come out from my new checking account even if I haven't given them any of the new information?

I don't think so. I know that some companies have tried to submit "checks" with a fake check number before though. I would think that if the bank knows you have the stop payment on it and you closed your account due to that, they would be smart enough not to debit that new account.

I dont think they can anyway. Even if you had 2 checking accounts at 1 bank that were active, I dont think if you wrote a check from one and didnt have the money they can just take it from that other account.

Ok, that is good to know! I actually have 3 checking and 2 savings accounts right now. It will be 2 checking after I close this one on Friday. National Opportunities did the fake check thing to me and took out $318, I disputed it, so the bank issued a temporary credit in less than 5 days. My credit was just posted today, so as long as they don't try anything funny in the next 2 days, I should be ok by then. Fortunately, I don't have any more payments pending on that account, so I don't have to wait very long to close it out.

keep a close eye on your bank account. Some of the internet payday lenders have pulled a fast one on consumers in the past by creating a paper check with a dummy number (like "9999") and running it through your account to circumvent the stop payment and ACH block on your account.

If this happens, go to your bank and dispute the amount taken from your account, and explain that this company was blocked from debiting your account, and they did this without your permission. You should be able to get your money back in your account with your bank's help if this happens.

It is still possible . . . . It all depends on your banks policies, and if the accounts are linked in any way.

Plus, with a stop payment, it only stops that specific transaction. So lets say you stopped payment for $89 for Company X. They can still get through by doing the transaction for $90. Or they can use one of their DBA's and hit the account under a different name.

Also, some banks will allow a company to debit the account with a social security number and signed contract. Most pdl's will put a clause in the contract saying that if you revoke authorization, they reserve to right to debit any account in your name. They can also do the paper check route, which a stop payment won't work on either unless you know the exact amount and the check number.

Suebeehoney, yes, I explained my situation to the bank and filed the dispute process already which is why I received the $318 pretty quickly.

Goudah, you bring up some valid points. I will have to talk to the bank and ask what their policies for this will be. They are aware of my situation and are very easy to work with. I've had to close an account in the past because of another pdl company, and my bank didn't pull any charges from my new account. It was National Money Store and they tried like 7 more times to debit my account when it was closed. They only way I even realize this had happened because I wasn't getting any charges from my new accounts. I only found out when the CA called and told me they tried to pull funds unsuccessfully.

Well, I closed one of my accounts that Geneva Roth was debiting from. I asked the bank if either they or National Opportunities tried ACH or a check if it would affect my other accounts, and my bank said, "Nope, they just return back to the company." So I was really relieved. I still heard a peep from Geneva Roth or National Opportunities. I had thought about sending a email or letter to National Money Store's collection agency but I haven't received any calls or DV letters after I sent a DV request and cease and desist letter to the CA...maybe it is just another sleeping dog *crosses fingers*

I just got my PIF letter from Cash Direct Express to fax and return back to them! So cross one off my list! They actually said they sent it 2 days after my email, but sometimes my Yahoo bounces, so they resent it again today.

World Wide Cash I agreed to pay them back just the principal $200 in 4 installments. So that was a compromise. But I did file with the FTC, BBB, and DFI after I sent my email to them, so maybe things will change.

Geneva Roth left me a voicemail so I don't know what will happen there...I am nervous. I'm giving them a call tomorrow.

So the only ones that I haven't heard from are National Opportunities and National Moneystore.

Arghh..so Geneva Roth called me a week after I sent my email. I spoke with a Stacy Wiggins this morning, and she said my account was forwarded to her department because I had defaulted, and how I planned to take care of this. I asked her if anyone had forwarded my email correspondence to her, and she said no, so I had to get her email address and resend it. *sigh* I was hoping she was calling to tell me the terms of a resolution or something, but now it looks like I have to wait a little longer now.

I received two emails from National Opportunities today:

They were debiting from a closed account and my bank knew better than to debit from my existing 2 accounts. The DFI sent them a letter, and I sent them an email 2 weeks ago. Well, look like I have to send them something certified next...arghh...but at least my money is safe! :)
