I was recently contacted by a US Investigations of New Jersey for a way past due payday loan. They haved threatened to file all kinds of charges against me. They also said they are going to download a file to Tennessee so the local police can arrest me. I am so scared and I don't have the 500 dollars they are asking me for. What should I do?

passionrain do not worry, they cannot have you arrested for not paying on a payday loan. They are trying to scare you into paying. As a matter of fact they are the ones breaking the law by threatening you with arrest. If you can, record these calls. Ask for debt verification first and you can also send them a cease and desist letter. Go over to the debt collectors forum to get more info. There are also some threads in this forum about problems with payday loans and what to do. Read through them to get a better understanding.

Again, don't worry as you are not going to be arrested. Do not let those clowns scare you.

I agree with Steelers - and also go to the Homeland Security website. On it you will find a link to a goc. deptartment called ICE. File a complaint with them regarding this company, ub fact - forwarad a copy of the threatening letter that you received to ICE and make sure that you cc the collection agency so that they will know that you are on to them and have filed a complaint against them with the gov.
