I have been reading your board and have a few thoughts.

1. I have seen several times your moderators advise people to not pay bills or go after the collector. Why do you think not paying a debt helps someone fix bad credit and why do you think sending a c-d letter helps when all that is going to do is force the creditor to sue or resell the paper.

2. Why do you not advise of the legal consequences of non payment. I am not talking crazy threats but legit consequences like wage garnishments, tax withholding, bad credit, judgements and liens. If the debtor is a property owner and does not pay a bill they can face a high intrest lien on there property that has to be satisfied at the time of sale or refiance why put somebody in that position over a credit card they may be able to settle out or save on.

3. Why do you attempt to creat and atmosphere or victimization to justify ways not to pay bills why no give solid advise that can help people get out of debt instead of making the situation worse?

Your right DollarsandCents. I've heard of children getting card offers in the mail. On another forum I registered using just my first and middle name, sure enough in a couple of weeks I started getting credit card offers in the mail. The cc companies many times get what the deserve when some defaults happen.

Don't forget caps lock also steelers, lol. He likes to come by and troll every so often also. They might want to see a doctor about their split personalities.

And your rigth dollars and lawstudent, many of these credit card companies are very predatory. File a bankruptcy and after its discharged wait and see how many credit card offers you get. Or how about students in college can get them even if they don't have a job. Hidden fees, small print. Late with one payment on one credit card and another will raise your rates.

My son, who is not even two yet received a credit card off in the mail! I read an article where a guy got a credit card offer and ripped it up. Then he decicded he wanted to see if he still could get it. He taped it back together and changed the address to his parents house and they still approved it and sent it to his parents house. Shows how easy these credit card companies make it for identity theft.

Hey, I've had dogs where they have been pre-approved for credit cards. They get better offers than me  Yes, we get the trolls around here every so often. It is just something he says that reminds me of Pay. I think they are one in the same. I get tired of the accusations. Maybe the old school collector needs to walk a mile in someone else's shoes for awhile. This might give him a little more understanding of what people are going through here on the forum. :?

I've seen news stories in the past where they are interviewing people where their young children received credit cards in the mail and also people's pets. LOL.

I have the strong belief that people like pay and his "buddies" or should I say "other personalities", will reap the misfortunate that those who have fallen on hard times have dealt with. It is called karma.

And I would not be surprised if one day pay and his other personalities are on here looking for advice because he has fallen on bad times. It happens to the best of us. And we can not predict the future or what will happen, especially when some financial catastrophe hits us when we least expect it, and sometimes you can just never save enough to prevent a catastrophe.

Well, we have finally built up some savings but I had to take some money out of my 401 (k) to do this and to pay some other things off. It's been hard this year since I got laid off. Now that I'm sick, who is going to hire me? I can feel your pain and I'm sorry you are going through this. We are here for each other. That is what is so great about this forum.

Yes, you truly did get hit with a double whammy. And you are a prime example of how horrible things happen to a really great person. There is absolutely NO WAY you could've predicted your situation and it is one that I would NEVER wish on any person. Regardless of what old school says, it is great to have a place to go to to vent and brainstorm. Perhaps he is just a tad upset that he does not have a support system.

I feel the same way about you and your situation. You've been such an inspiration on the forums and then wham. I don't think old school understand that life does happen. If it is PAY, then he actually has no bills. I don't like the fact that he came into chat and accused us of using stolen computers. We don't do those kinds of things around here nor do we encourage it. I think old school needs to take another look around. That is just my opinion though.

I know, he was a complete a$$ in chat! Especially when he accused us of using stolen computers, he is just a complete idiot. I think he has some underlying anger issues perhaps with his mother that he needs some therapy to deal with them!

And if he were paying close attention he would see how others here have made positive changes with support and great advice to better their situations.

LOL! Maybe he learned his lesson? But I seriously doubt it. You know what really irks me about the other night when PAY was in there is when he started talking about payday loans. He actually thinks this is a solution to someone who has bad credit and has fallen on hard times. I guess he's never been in that trap and doesn't understand what it's like to get out of it. That is not very sound advice at all.

  He is just an instigator plain and simple. It is as if he knows what buttons to push to get people going. But hey, if you are reading this pay/old school, you are welcomed into chat any time! If you can stand the heat. Which from past experiences with you in chat, it is obvious you can not.

Second, there is this little invention called the caps lock key. Please find yours and disengage it.

Third, who in the world do you think you are? You havent seen me in the forum? I am so terribly sorry, I was not aware that I needed your permission to be here or to post in this thread! Next time, I will be sure to run my posts by you before putting them in here, will that make your widdle boo-boo feel better???

Look, jack, I am here for the same reason as most everyone else. And if you care to take a look at my posts, you will see absolutely nothing but me helping people. That is, until I try a light-hearted post with you and you fly off the deep end like I just slapped your momma. GIVE IT A REST.

Finally, one minute of fame? I am a proud US Navy veteran, who served in combat and was wounded for my country. I spent seven years as a firefighter, saving people and asking nothing in return. I am a cancer survivor. I am married to the greatest woman on the planet and have three incredible daughters I wouldnt trade for anything. And I am 33 years old...I have done more than a little in my life and I am hardly done yet, so BELIEVE ME, kemosabe, I dont need you for any kind of fame. All I did was tell a joke. Get a clue.

Very cool, Tania. South America is one of the places I have not had the pleasure to visit yet. Oh, and keep that sense of humor coming along, I have found that at times it was the only thing that got me through a hard time. About the capital letters, in internet circles, many people take that to mean you are angry, or yelling. Now that I know that you just like to do it, by all means, dont let my ignorance from before stop you, please! You have a fantastic outlook on life. Thanks for sharing that with us.

Ya know - I will have to admit something - OSDC is right. He is. Now, before you throw the mental tomatoes at me, and before you start your dance OSDC, hear me out.

We do tell people not to pay their debt. But it is what we tell them AFTER that matters. See, when someone gets a debt they are unsure of, we tell them not to pay the debt UNTIL THE DEBT IS VERIFIED. This seems to be the piece OSDC is missing, or choosing to ignore. And that is true with anyone. If you don't know what you are sending money for, don't send it! You have the right to know why you are being asked for this money, and by law, it is up to the collector to prove that this debt is yours. If he proves it, you have an obligation to satisfy this debt. Now, if the collector chooses not to prove it, you should pay nothing. I am not going to write $50 checks and mail them to companies I don't know that I have chosen at random from the phone booth. Basically - that is what you are doing if you do not know exactly what the debt is about.

So OSDC, stop dancing. and pay attention to the boards. Do us a favor - if you have proof, post a link. Don't just type it. If you have nothing, stay here and read. Educate yourself. If you see something that is wrong, tell us. But please, back it up with proof.

I can say elephants can fly. Until I can show proof, no one will believe me. Nor should they.

(really - elephants just glide, like a flying squirrel)

Now just click your ruby slippers together and say.....oh, heck...
Tanya, my daughter's very best friend while growing up is the child of Brazilian immigrants--who considered my oldest to be their second daughter, as I consider their child to be my third daughter. Although these two have long-since moved away, I still have my daughter's friend Louisa's cell phone number and call it--and she answers it!! These two kids are 22 and soon to be 22 and have been best friends since the 6th grade. They would do anything for each other still.
Where are you from in Brazil?
