Can a complany like NCO leave a msg on your answering machine.. This is NCO....The law states that we need to inform you that this is a debt collection company, any attempt to collect a debt......

I thought they can only leave their name and number?

I read through the fdcpa and can find no mention of answering machines or voice mail. If you have a general voice mail where anyone other than you has access I could see that as being interpeted as a violation. I have gotten similat messages and I have also gotten the usual "please contact Mr'Jones about an important business matter."

Rochelle, there is no time limit to validate. However there are ways to remove that tradeline. The Ftc and some courts have ruled that reporting is continued collection activity so go ahead and do a dispute with the credit bureaus. If they verify the account with the credit bureaus without validating, they are in violation of Fdcpa. If they have not marked the account as in dispute after receiving your dv letter, again they are in 1.
