I got a call from MCM, saying that they were calling on behalf of AspireVisa and that they were getting ready to contact an attorney...yada yada.... I told him I have no money, I amunemployed so there was no way I could make any arrangements. AFTER I said that he goes throughthe whole thing of do you live .....are the last 4 digits of your social..... and then any information will be used to collect a debt etc etc. Isn't that backwards? Also I just recieved a credit card offer which would absorb the AspireVisa past due amount and allow me to rebuild my credit (something to that effect) and the Please respond by date ws sometime in July. So if I am getting an offer like that, can/should they be calling and threatening with a lawyer? I haven't heard of MCM before, I thought Aspire Visa was represented by someone else (can't remember their name now). I am so annoyed because my number is through Vonage which means that there shouldn't be anyway these people could even get my number. How do they get our phone numbers? The only people that have my number are family and regular creditors such as electric, car payment etc.

They can do skip tracing which is something I don't know much about. It seems to me some collector will to any length to get our personal info. One thing I would suggest is not to let them know that you are umeployed or where you work. The next step is to send them a debt validation letter via certified mail with return receipt requested. They should send you a letter in the mail within 5 days after the first telephone contact with you. This isn't always the case so it's always best to cover your butt on these issue. I would do a search around the forums for MCM to find out more information about them.
