Let me ask you some questions here: what if I don't owe this debt and have never lived in the state where it was incurred: but Mr. Collector, who hasn't responded to my requests to validate (or prove the debt is mine), which is a right that you and I have under the FDCPA--should I still just pay it?
What if Mr. Collector calls you at work over a debt you don't owe, and says you have one hour to come up with 700 dollars, or cops will come to your office and have you arrested--you should just pay it, right? Even though you don't owe it? Is it still easy to just say pay it and they'll stop calling?
If you do owe this debt, you must make arrangements to pay it off which both you and the collector can live with. This doesn't give a collector the right to call you at work if you can't take personal calls there, which is also a right we have under the fdcpa. Do you still have to pay the debt if it's yours? You bet! Does this give a collector license to harass? No it does not!

Amen to that one--but I think some of these people are the type that enjoy it and are into harassment, in some sick sense. Anyone can be a big man on the phone, but real life is harder.

I hate people who think they are better than everyone else, espeically when they put their britches on one leg at a time too!
