Wow! Gas is still $3.30 here. But I read in the paper that west Michigan gas prices are among the highest in the country. When I was in South Bend 2 weeks ago, gas was $2.79.

Don't get to comfortable with the lower prices. I was watching CNN this morning and they said the low gas prices are just a temporary thing. They are suppose to go back up over $3.00 by the forth, then lower and could go as high as $4.00 a gallon by labor day. Just remember, OPEC is the ones to yell at. They are the ones lining their pockets with our hard earned money.

finally,
Oh, I'm sure the prices will go up again. I did fill up for $2.85 today which made a little bit of a difference. That's 50 cents per gallon cheaper than last week :)

There is a little station up by where I work at that is $2.88, but when I get back to where I live, it is $3.08, 20 cents difference. Told my husband if it stayed like this, when we get paid going to try to fill the car up, although it will still take almost $40 to that. These gas flexuations are crazy!
Some new technologies are on the way
Hello once again my name is not that important at this time, however what I have to discuss is. First of all let me start by saying this" there is absolutely nothing whatsoever wrong with the basic internal combustion engine. There is no need to dramatically change your lifestyles by selling that large van or oversize SUV truck. According to my own calculations, we the American people are being deliberately lie too. Yes lied to, something that politicians do quite often, with very little effort. Ethanol that expensive to produce corn based product was once thought of as the savior of the nation, this is not so. It is true that alcohol has been purposely added to gasoline over the years, primarily to stop that annoying engine knock. I had no problem with the alcohol gasoline mixture, however when the mixture ratio reached a whopping 85% ethanol 15% gasoline I became alarmed. I told you all many years back don't get too comfortable with ethanol, for it will eventually led to utter chaos. I have so much more to say to the scientific community first, then those who consume the products second. We scientists are quite often misunderstood, for there is so much more to say here. However, I won't say it at this time for fear of becoming yet another homicide statistic, in an overcrowded world of statistics. I now repeat my earlier words for the brain impaired people in my once upon a time free country" there is no need at this present time or in the near future to dramatically change the design of our cars and trucks. You don't have to downsize any of your vehicles; don't be fooled into sacrificing that glorious SUV for that pitifully small so-called fuel-efficient rat trap. As a scientist, I will continue with my research while there's the breath of life in my mortal body. It's up to you to help us spread the word to those who will hear about these new technologies  that could have a profound effect on everyones lifestyles soon.

I am glad you have no problem paying 4.00 per gallon and going 16 miles on one of them. I do not have to be an economics professor to know that 50 mpg is 3 times better so I will buy the hybrid and stay away from the sponge on wheels.

You are a lucky our gas is $3.69 here and that's the cheapest I have seen around town. It must take the gas tankers forever to get to the midwest  besides of the fact that I live in a #1 college town and #2 state capitol.

I all so just bought heating oil at $3.79 (up .80 from Feb) I hope that the 150gal will last for the summer.
We are also working on cutting electric bill. Anything that has an LED light (computers, charges, breaker bars, TV, DVD player ect) is unplugged when not in use. The bill has gone down about $20 for the past 2 months.

Change to compact fluorescent lamps and LED retro fits where possible. Use your ceiling fans blowing down in the summer and up in the winter. Get Occ sensors for rooms where the lights get left on. I am a lighting professional by career. Anything you need to know about lighting anything just ask.

Is it true that anything that is left plugged in (whether it be a toaster or a computer) still draws power? Even the cell phone charger that is no in use?

The TV when left plugged in can be consuming a little power because the cable is off but the TV is on. If you notice your black screen may occsionally flash.
LEDs on the other hand are Light Emitting Diodes which use a minimal amount of power and should not be anything to be concerned about. Basically they are little light bulbs with no filaments that have a hole side and an electron side. The have semi conductor material that allows power to flow in one direction only. Light is a by product of the gap between the two sides when power is supplied. They consume a fraction of a watt. LED lighting is where lighting is going right now. You can see it in traffic lights and car taillights already. It is great for home lighting to as it is extremely efficient and has a lamp life greater than 20,000 hours compared to a light bulb of 750 hours and 3000 hours for a fluorescent tube.
