I am very sorry to hear about your friends not being trustworthy. Have you thought about talking with them and fixing the problem? Since the debt is theirs, they should understand it and pay the dues.

Yes, it's very hard to backfire especially when it's a family member or a friend. Sometimes, they don't understand the situation you have put yourself into. You have to go through a debate whether to take legal actions or not!!
