I'm still working on closing and opening a new checking account. I want the current one closed before I contact the PDL companies. However,I want to file with the AG on Moneyline so I contacted them. I casually asked the start date of my loan - this just makes me sick - November of 2005. I have paid $90 every two weeks on a $300 loan. Due to my good record with payments they have forgiven the balance and marked it paid in full. The only catch is that they won't extend anymore loans to me. LOL
I sure hope I can get some of this back. For anyone that has received refunds from there AG office can you share the time frame with me? Thanks.

Congrats! At least this gives you a start, although I would absolutly pursue a refund.

I think the time frame is different for each situation. Some happen fast, and others take a long time. You may want to just call moneyline back and tell them that you want a refund, and see what they say . . . Knowing they will have the AG on their ass may motivate!

I've decided to make contact with the PDL's in conjuction with filing with the AG. I would much prefer to get as many as I can turned over as paid in full. I'm still filing with the AG because I think it is the right thing to do. I got myself in to this mess but I would like to see the law protect future mistakes from being made by others.

None of my pdls would even talk to me about payment plans or anything else until I had missed payments..and that didn't happen till I tried to close my checking account. Be sure to tell your bank upfront what you are doing because the pdls can continue to try to debit and run up your nsf charges. You should immediately send them letters revoking their right to debit your account by way of ach..and then contact your AG office...they will tell you how to file a complaint..separate one for each. I just completed and mailed all of mine yesterday.

Thanks for the advice. I feel like I'm on a tightrope right now - the timing has to be perfect. I have my paycheck coming to me instead of direct deposit. I'm waiting on the start up for my new checking account to clear so I can close the old one. I plan on going into the old bank and lay out what is happening. I have until next Thursday before the PDL's will try and hit. By then hopefully I will have transmitted by retraction of ACH approval and at the very least will have the account shutdown. Can we say stress? I don't know how I juggled this for the years that I have.

Agreed. I contacted all my pdl's first. After harrassment, I filed all complaints I could possible imagine. Then I contacted my pdl's again informing them that complaints have been filed. Hey, they had their chance first - they didn't find it necessary to assit me or hear me out - so file away! Then let them know you filed. One of my pdl's - after I informed them I filed all my complaints - gee, sent me a refund. Oh, really??? Amazing how that happened!

MPEREZ, I am glad you filed those complaints. I never advise to contact a payday loan company first. I am an avid beliver in the Attorney General. It has been over 2 years on my situation and I am still receiving refunds. The legal process takes a while. You are in a good state. They are ILLEGAL in NY. The NY AG is hot on their trail. Recent article in the New York times bashing them. You might want to check that one out. Best Wishes KYSIDE38

Kyside38 - I have all my phone numbers/faxs or emails for all my PDL's - I was going to send notice to withdraw authorizations for ACH's (it is mute since I have already closed my account and the bank will protect me from them trying to get it reopened)- This Thursday will be my first default on payments - I didn't have enough cash to mail out my paperwork to the AG but I will send it first thing Thursday morning. (you cannot electronically file them in NY) Do you recommend that I don't even make contact about the ACH's and just let it hit the fan on Thursday?
Thanks in advance!

I wouldnt worry about certifying letters to AG just put a stamp on them they will get there. Also give it a few days to expect an answer. NY is a big state and it will take a little time. I wouldnt worry too much NY has taken a hard stand against these predators. Thats exactly what they are PREDATORS. KYSIDE38
