That differs from company to company. You should close that account and open a new one. They will just try to do an ACH debit under another DBA (which they each have many, and it is difficult to know them all and which ones are connected) They will try to recharge the account the following business day and every pay period there after until you close the account.

What state are you in? Before you close your account make sure that there aren't any penalties for this. Some states will penalize for account closure or stopped payments, but not for NSF.

depending on what company(ies) you are dealing with they will just continue to try to put them through on a random basis as well using different dba's as well as the one you know. Make sure your bank won't force open a closed account for an ACH incurring you more charges.

What is a dba? There is no way I can close the account unfortunately. This is with Cash Transfer Centers and I am in Kansas.

DBA: "Doing Business As". If you can not close the account you need to go to your bank and place a block on the company, this company also goes under the name of Sonic, and others will post the other names, for some reason I am drawing a blank and I know, that I know the other names. :?
Debit Block
Listen to these people! I had my bank account "closed". However, pdl debit went through - forcing the account to "re-open". This happens when there are pending debits not showing yet. This caused a MAJOR overdraft on my account. I had to fight with the bank, who disputed all the pdl debits, and then couldn't close the account since it was negative. Finally I got the bank to credit those pdl debits. Then I put a BLOCK on all debits. This way, if your account is still open, NO DEBITS can go through. I had a pdl with Cash Transfer Centers. They do go by different names. If they can't put through an ACH debit, they will use an "electronic check" and put it through. This is why you have to put a total BLOCK of debits on the account. Credits will still go through. These pdl's will use MANY "dba". MANY. So you can't just put a block on certain names. They will use another one and put a debit through. They will continue to try and try again. If you can't close the account for whatever reason, make sure you put the BLOCK on it. Explain to them that you can't pinpoint ONE company to block, so block everything. I've had them put through "electronic checks" and these are harder than regular ACH debits to reverse off your account. They have a difficult time tracing them. However, listen to these people. Some of these pdl's do business under up to 17 different names, as I've found out. It's amazing.

WOW! They will go to extremes. I'm just sad I got wrapped up in this mess to begin with. You all are giving me faith that I can fight some. Unfortunately, some maybe not. All we can do is try. Thank you for the help.

Sometimes they will even send a paper check through! I had that happen to me. You have gotten some good advice. One thing I might add, take your bank a copy of the letters showing where you have revoked your authorization for them to debit your account.

UCLs did it to me. I did not hear from them after I had their debits reversed and then all of the sudden there was a paper check that went through. Unfortunatly, since it was a paper check, I was not able to do anything about it. I am all done with PDLs!!!

I know you said you could not close the account but if I were you I would figure out a way to close that bank account and go to a new bank for a new account. If you close it you still need to take all the other steps listed above in dealing with the compromised account. I would keep close watch on the account to make sure the bank does not open the account and start giving you NSF fees.

500 Fastcash put the elec. check through after I requested PIF and revoked (after paying them 600+ over the legal amount!) and they will not PIF my account for one year - so they say because of the electronic check could be taken back. I'm just done! thank god I am PDL Free and just trying to help anyone else out of the mess.

Maybe the account can be set up on a deposit status only to where not debits can come out. But do open a new account so you can have better control over your money.

I would urge you to be honest with your bank explaining the reason the account needs to be closed. If the bank knows the situation it is possible that the bank manager may be able to help you rather than if you just want to close it without explaination. This honesty part with them is hard, however is necessary and believe it or not will make you feel better in the end because they will be more willing to help you.

I know it was hard and embarassing when I had to sit down with my bank and explain my situation. They were cooperative and closed the old account then opened a new one for me. Unfortunately the problem I had was that somehow they allowed a pdl to hit the new account. So I had to close it all together and go to another bank. But sitting down with somebody face to face to explain your situation is hard and embarassing, but I did feel better when I walked out of the bank.
debit block
Yes, you can still have your account open. Put a block on ALL DEBITS. This included ACH, electronic checks, paper checks, using the ATM machine. A total debit block will prevent anything from being taken out of the account. However, credit can still be put in. You can do this, monitor your account VERY closely and close it asap so you don't have to be paranoid anymore. Mine is called a "Hard debit block". Which means NOTHING will go through except credits.

If you can't even use the ATM, how do you get your money out?

You can also have your account put on "deposit only" status until you can switch your direct deposit checks to another account; then close that one.
