I have heard the same thing...I believe its called skip tracing. But with the PDL's, I think that they will debit your new account if you apply for a new PDL because they all share your information.

I closed my account today and my bank was wonderful. The bank counselor told me to do the following. Keep my savings account so that I can use the bank to cash my paychecks, if I really wanted to open another checking account go to another bank. She said just having your soc sec number wouldn't let them hit you with an ach - they would have to get the routing number and account number in order to find you. She went online and printed 3 years of statements on my account and said just call her if I needed to go back further. She gave me her business card and said if anything happened with the savings account or if they tapped into my closed account(which she verified with security that it couldn't happen) she would take care of any nsf charges. I'm spending the weekend finishing up my research and getting all my paperwork together - Monday I'm calling all my PDL's asking for whatever refund I calculate on NY laws or settling what ever I owe on remaining principal (very little so far), sending the letters retracting permission to ACH me and filing with the NY AG. Thursday I will be getting my entire paycheck - for the first time in years. I'm on my way.

Congradulations on getting that paycheck to pay your regular bills. I would contact the NY AG ASAP they are HOT against payday loans there. They are just like WV totally ILLEGAL there. My AG has already closed down around 21 of these places and got refunds for consumers. So it sure can be done. Best of Luck to you. KYSIDE38

Congratulations on having a bakn tha tis willing to work with you. Now follow Kyside's advice and don't wait until Monday to file your complaints with the ag's office. Many states have electonic filing and you can register a complaint on line. I would do it now and also don't forget the FTC, the BBB, the Secret Service (there is a post here regarding their investgating pdls) and the department of finance in NY. Good luck.
