What kind of services do you offer? I have a posting under divorce with impending financial disaster - basically, asking specific questions relating to debt settlement since I have never been in this situation. My credit is still good since I have been making payments but with my credit cards up to their limits at $25k, 32% interest due to many factors through the divorce, it was suggested that I explore the debt settlement as a genuine option. My user name in this forum is tricia900. It sounds like you may have valuable experience in this realm. Your feedback would be appreciated.

I would like to say that if you are considering a debt consolidation company, or any company-please check them out with the BBB, and ask others' who have dealt with them. This site offers free credit consultation, as well as Ranking Charts for different companies..KAren

Wouldnt this be a great website here for a bill collector to "find someone" that he/she and or the firm they are working for in order to collect on a debt? Just becareful what you say or give to strangers it could be a trap. Not that it is , but it could be.

James, you are right. Collectors come to this site alot, and I would not contact this person giving specifics on my financial situation, or contact information. It could very well be this person is posting this thread looking for debtors to harass.

I agree, no sharing of personal information, with anyone, just to be safe.

Speaking of Buffalo New York, that is the capital of crooked collectors, even Bud Hibbs has it on his site.

I understand what your concerns are however I am still looking for sound advice from you guys. I really want to make this company work. I honestly need your opinion despite no personal contact. My experience with collections has shown that most debt settlement company reps dont have a clue about the industry.

As far as Bud Hibbs is concerned, as I have stated in another post, has valid points but you need to realize the perspective. Yes, Most agencies are based in buffalo. The rewards of the industry are very lucrative in a low cost of living area.

However Bud Hibbs is out of his mind. Have you noticed that every agency that exist is in the "worst agencies list"? Lets be realistic. I wont deny or validate the collectors often stretch the rules. Take in concideration that $163 billion in debt goes into default every year and only $67 billion is ever recovered. There is no accountability for debtors any more.

Guess who picks up the other $100 billion? Its
no the banks! Its hard working Americans who do pay theirs bills. Its benefical for everyone if accounts get paid off and thats why I want to arbitrate. I really wish people would stop blameing collectors. They are a necessary evil and deep in side, people understand that.

You won't earn any points or advice by coming here and making those comments, especially about Budd Hibbs. I don't think you are going to get help here, I am highly suspect of your motive and really suspect you are here only to harass some debtors you are looking for by coming to a place where they are seeking support and advice.

The best advice, go elsewhere, there are other ways of finding out how to start a business. Your comments above really make you look like you are here with other intentions in mind. Like I said, you haven't had any advice yet, but this, go somewhere else to run Bud Hibbs name in the ground.

I have my suspicions also Steelers. This could be a collector looking for some one that they are after who has been helped with info from the forums.

I know Irish. Like we are really going to be taken by this person's innocent post about who they are, and what they are trying to accomplish. Does this person honestly think we are going to expose ourselves and our personal information to help them "start a business" helping the debtor. Give me a break, please. :roll:

I am leery as well--but I honestly thought that Jacksonville, Fla could claim the title of having the most crooked collection agencies in its city, not Buffalo. You learn something new everyday...

Ks - isn't Buffalo relatively close to the Canadian border where so many of our "friends" who are based in the UK operate out of?

It is, but I thought Sonic and their friends were based out of Manitoba??? Buffalo is close to Ontario and Niagra Falls, etc...

Sonic was based out of Malta, that is until they were thrown out, now they are operating out of Canada.

I am soooooo chilled to the bone right now after reading this crap from this so-called "person" who wants to help and wants advice. Get the hell out of here! I am very disappointed in you people. If I was a collector what info could I possibly obtain. If you guys are going to accuse every new member then why just not accept any. Any logical person would understand I have a point. If you refuse anyones opinion except your own then we have some serious growing up to do! Well I am voicing an opinion and I am an adult. Budd Hibbs helps tons of consumers that is getting ripped off harassed by consumers. You have come to the wrong site too many people on here are being harassed and they are looking for justice agaqinst the debt collectors. My peace of advice I can give you is Follow the Law. Thats all any of us want. I dont know about the overall statistics but I would say on the site 99.8 percent of the people want to pay their debts. Many have fell on very hard times and need help. Obviously Bud Hibbs is a business man and he does what he does to make money. Trust me, I know all to well few people wake up and decide they want ot be debtors. 99.8%, however, is not correct. Consider the large amount of people who open credit they could never afford. Consider professional debtors who take Bud hibbs
advice to abuse credit withount intent to ever pay it back. If i didnt have a conscience, I know a way using Bud Hibbs and others advise to have around 50k-100K with in a year and never have to pay a dime.

Again i don't want a post about the intent of Bud Hibbs. I want to know what problems others have had with debt settlement companies so i may address this when I go public. Thanks.

Jesse, I appreciate what you are saying, but it's like the old saying "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me." If you're burned so many times, you're going to be leery when someone comes on and says trust me, right? After so many bad experiences, naturally people are going to be hesitant.

Alright, let me chime in here if I may. Jesse, I happen to be someone who has nothing but contempt for collectors, and Bud Hibbs has not slandered any company on his 'lists'. I have reasearched just about every company on his site so that I could come to my own conclusions. He has not one company listed falsely. I am from New York, and I have always known the truth about the majority, if not all collectors being crooked in Buffalo. If you are seeking some advice, then just ask a question, but if you are here to seek information on some debtors, such as address, phone numbers or other relevant information so that you can pursue collection accounts, it won't happen, and like I said, just ask whatever it is you are seeking an answer for.

I actually never heard of Bud Hibbs until this post. The website seemed to be full of pretty good advice to me. I could not help myself and had to laugh at the company that topped his chart and won the ???????America????????s dumbest debt collector??????? award. What I am really wondering though is which one of those companies the Op was working with.

I'm curious as to what your true intent is by posting this. Yes, I have been in debt and I am still in debt. Whoopee! Millions of Americans are, simple fact. Now, don't come here telling me that I am ripping off my credit card companies when I pay my bills and on time. You are being somewhat hypocritical in your postings. This is just my observation. Do I like getting calls from collection agencies? No! I do take the time to listen but I also know my rights as a consumer. I will not be threatened, harassed, etc. It's just not going to happen with me. I have been with a debt settlement company and ended that relationship. I have to agree on the point that my debt counselor did not really know what she was doing as none of my debts were settled. I had already paid their fees and I had enough money in my escrow account to settle 75 % of my debts. I followed the rules and basically got burned. The debt counselor had the nerve to try to turn it around on me as if I had done something wrong. I followed their advice and now I have bad marks on my credit report. I take this as a live and learn experience. Do I blame all debt collectors or debt counselors? No, because I know their are good ones out there. I have dealt with them. If you want peoples experiences, all you need to do is to read through the forums. But I will not tolerate any personal attacks on any members here.
