As long as they did not give out the details of what the call was about, I believe this is legal. Others will read this and post a response as well. There are alot of collection agencies out there that will pull dirty tricks and give up your information though.

If you got proof that they received your validation letter(certified receipt),then do save that message. This would possibly be continued collection violation if you sent them a timely dv letter within 30 days.

In my opinion the best way to stop calls from collection agencies is to send them a validation letter, which you have already done. Wait till 30 days to hear back from them. Most likely they are not going to respond or even if they respond they will say that they have received your letter. But that is not enough. If they send you a satisfactory proof that they have bought the debt from the original creditor or have been assigned to collect the debt, the complete payment history, right from the name of the original lender to the copy of the original signed loan agreement, then it is fine.
If AGS does not send you a satisfactory proof, then send them a copy of your validation letter, the receipt for your registered mail, and a statement that they have not acted according to the fdcpa and thus have violated the law. Tell them that if they do not take out the collection listing from your credit report then you are going to file a lawsuit against them because they are in violation of the FDCPA, section 809.
