I'm working on the letters to send to the PDL companies I owe money to. I'm wondering though, how do I go about setting up payment arrangements. I'd rather communicate with all of them by snail mail because of the way BIG treated me. I have no desire to speak to any of these people by phone.

What payment arrangements have you guys made and was it difficult to get the PDL companies to accept the arrangements?

I have been fortunate in the fact that 3 of my PDL's have closed my account (the day of sending my letters by email), however, I had overpaid them. The ones that I actually owe money to have not responded yet, except for one, and they turned me over to collections yesterday, BEFORE I was even defaulted.

I found the biggest help for me was to offer one lump sum to have them mark my account pif. I have done that with two of my ipdls and they were willing to accept the legal amounts...but I had to be able to get it to them by moneygram of western union within 24 hours. I was ONLY able to do that because I closed my bank account, opened another, and stopped them from taking all of my money. I worked them one at a time and stuck to the arrangements. I'm still broke but at least I know they are out of my hair. :-) If you can't offer to pay a negotiated settlement amount then offer what you can afford and send a good faith payment. Trust me...they are not going to refuse your money.
