i have heard that it takes 7 years for stuff to come off a report. 7 years from when?? if you have a credit card from 2000 to 2005 and were late in like feb of 2000, does it come off 7 years from feb of 2000 or 7 years from 2004? i have talked to the creditors and they claim it's gonna stay until 7 years from the close date. if this is true, then should i close a credit card upon the first time it's late??

Negative information will be calculated from the date of first delinquency on the account and will stay for seven years. In your case, if it was Feb 2000 when your account first turned delinquent, the negative item should be removed from your file by now.
