I live in Oklahoma and between my husband and myself we have 17 internet pdl's. Of course with that many we would just get overdrawn and have to reborrow. So we closed our checking account but now one (SonicPayday.com) is threatening garnishment. I have tried refinancing our home, getting equity loans, you name it but because we also have $20k in credit card debt no one will touch us. Any ideas? Our loans are with:
Sonicpayday - $400
PRLDirect - $300
Paydayok - $500
Paydayselect - $300
Paydayloanyes - $450
epayday - 2 loans one for $250 and one for $300
National Opportunities - $375
ameriloan - $500
Loanpointusa - $300
Nationwide - $500
Cashnetusa - $500
Paydayloanyes - $400
Global Financial Services - $300
Payday Advance - $293
Cash Advance USA - $250
Zipcash - $300

Welcome to the forums. Oklahama is a bad state for these loans. They are legal there. Go to http://www.paydayloaninfo.org and look up your state laws. You will need to send a revoke to sonic on that wage assignment They are famous for that one. How much have you paid in total on these loans? KYSIDE38

Please sign up for the free consultation on this site if you haven't already. You are going to need a professional. Wage assignment agreements are revokable. Wage garnishment must go through the courts. If you have enough equity in your home there are people out there that will loan you but you have to be extremely careful as many of them have tricks to take your home. You have come to the best place for guidance. There is light at the end of this tunnel.

I will post the PDL laws for you state below(just select your state), Good luck to you!

You will need to close your bank account. When you do this, ask your bank what their policy is on ach transactions going through on closed accounts. Some banks will force open the closed account and allow the transactions to go through. Then you end up owing the bank $1000's . . . If your bank has this policy, tell them your situation, and tell them to put your account on deposit only, an ach block, or a hard hold before they close the account. They can put measures in place to stop these payday loan companies, but sometimes you really have to press them. If they tell you no, ask for a manager. If the manager tells you no, call the 800 number. Make sure you tell them you have revoked authorization for these companies to debit your account, so any charges they would allow to go through would be fraudulant.

Fortunately I see that Oklahoma does have a usury cap and does not permit rollovers. It is surprising that so many of these companies operate from there. How much have you paid on each of these loans? One at a time. You may already have legally paid off some of them! Hang in there and relax. We will get you through this. You must get cease and desist lettters out to all of them. That way they won"t call you. Then you can deal with them on your own terms. Please talk to a debt counsellor about your cards. That is where you really need professional help.
I see that you have a mix of lenders that range from sort of professional such as Cash Net USA, Pay Day Select and Pay Day OK who will work with you to some real difficult ones who will try to intimidate you. Remember that the ones that threaten you with stuff like "we will forward your info to the Sheriff and have you arrested if you don't pay us within an hour" or "we will have you arrested at your job" and other threats are the one that are illegal operations and can do nothing to collect from you. Those are nothing but meaningless toothless blabber. The Sonicpayday one is one of those as is National Opportunities. Once they can't collect from the wage assignment they will try a threat or two. When that doesn't work they will become nice and try to settle. Its a good guy bad guy thing. If you don't legally owe them or anyone else don't fall for that crap. We will be here for you. Stand up for your rights and do not communicate with anyone except by mail. Pay only by money order. Do not give anyone a check or a credit or debit card. Do not pay by western union. It is a violation of federal law for a company to only accept electonic payments. I can send you the statute if you need it.

I dont know what this means.. are the PDL companies functioning illegally in Mass?

i have started with complaints to their states, where they operate, and the FTC, but i have paid out so much in fees, that i have more than paid the original amts and now refuse to give anymore until they produce written copies of what/how i owe more. it seems that i pay things down/off and these miracle amts are still due...
