I have 4 payday loans and 6 credit cards in default. I have had a bankruptcy in the past. All I want to do is get out of debt, and be happy. I feel so guilty because I manage all the bills, and my husband is unaware that we have this trouble. It seems that I am always robbing Peter to pay Paul. I don't want the credit cards anymore, I just want to be able to pay my bills and start a savings account. It is so hard to make a living now a days, we are just two regular people with average jobs. I am a nurse, my husband a construction worker. i hope that someone out there can help me, my biggest dream is to own a home, I don't know if that will ever be possible.

Why not? You will have your home sometime in the future. Just make sure that you don't put additional debts on your credit. This is going to hurt your credit ratings in the future. You have to pay your existing debts to improve further.

Calculate all your income and expenses for the month and live on cash as much as possible. Don't take new credit for the time being. Keep some portion extra that you will be able to use during emergencies. Call the creditors and explain your situation. Tell them that you are unable to pay their existing interest rates and fees and will like to pay everything in the coming months. Seeing your intentions to pay, they might set up a plan for you. Make sure that you don't miss the payments. In case, you need professional advice or someone to negotiate with your creditors, speak with a debt counselor.
