Charge-off disputed debt

after disputing a debt with gateway for two years, assest acceptance bought the debt. they contacted me, i again disputed the debt. they have now filed a charge-off which is effecting my credit. how can i counter this charge off?

It seems that the debt demanded by your creditor was not valid, which compelled you to dispute and then they reported the account as Charge off, which is affecting your credit report adversely.
If so, you can send a letter to credit reporting agencies asking for an investigation on the said account. Attach all the documents that support your situation and also mention clearly what is the point you want to be checked. It will be helpful if you send a copy of your credit report with the letter and mark the field that is doubtful.
If the investigation is successful, the bureau will rectify your report.
