Hello I am a college student that needs to establish credit. Can any of you all suggest a credit card that would be a good starter one? Thank you Ralphie

Hi Ralphie...

A lot of companies offer "student" credit cards or cards for ppl with "little or no credit". I know that Orchard Bank (www.orchardbank.com) offers them. I have an Orchard Bank card myself, and while the interest rate is a bit higher, I didn't get socked with $300 in start-up fees. My sister-in-law is in college and just searched google for "student credit cards" and it led her to a great site. (Sorry, I can't remember the specific name, but I believe that it was Credit Soup) You have to compare all interest rates and make sure you aren't getting nailed with start-up fees.

Good luck!!

Hi Ralphie

It is really nice to know that you are aware of the importance of good credit at such a young age. You can apply for student credit cards. Apply for one card and manage it properly to establish credit. Remember to pay off the debts every month, it will show that you can pay your bills responsibly.:D

Find yourself a small credit union or hometown bank.Start a relationship with them with a checking & savings account. Then you can start taking small consumer loans out.Put the loan money in your savings account and pay on the account at least 6 months, then pay it in full.Repeat as often as they allow you to.After 18 months of doing this you should be ready to move into prime credit card country.
