What makes the collection agency think they can threaten you in to paying for something that they won't even tell you what or who it is....You ask all they say is you owe this money but won't say who its for,

It's nothing but bullying tactics and that fact that most consumers are uneducated about their rights that makes collection agencies think they can threaten you in this manner. But you are right, msalvin to question it. They are violating fdcpa if they want you to pay, but aren't willing to validate the debt. You can send them a cease and desist letter informing them to stop all calls to your home and place of employment, and also send them a letter requesting debt validation. In the meantime, next time they call ask them, "Would you want to shell out your money for something you have no idea what's it about...I don't think so?"

I also received a call from them two weeks ago. They wanted me to pay 800 dollars on a 300 dollar payday loan. I requested payment arragements which they denied me to do so. They said if I didn't send them money on that date they were going to take me to court. Haven't heard from them since and I haven't received any court papers. I wasn't even able to get an address from them. The number they called me from was a cell phone with a Florida area code. They were very nasty.
