belle, did you close your account and then the pdl debits went through and "forced" your account open? Did you revoke thier privilidge to debit your account before you closed your account?

Usually the best thing to do is go directly to the branch manager and appeal to that persons sense of reason. They may return you fees and place you account on a "deposit only status." The fees affect the bottom line of the bank and a few branch managers may be motivated by that but most are humans like you. Don't go there with an attitude. Treat them the same as the cop who pulls you over.

It is possible that with copies of the letters you sent, that you might be able to get the bank to return everything and possibly refund the NSF fees, considering the account was suppose to be closed. The bank will usually want proof that you revoked authorization to debit your account.

I used to bank with Chase and they had told me that my closed account would have to sit unactive for 30 days for it to be officially closed. In other words, anything trying to come through in that 30 day period, would force it open.
