I was recently working in the Middle East (Doha, Qatar), I had to return back to the United States for personal reasons, I left about $27,000 in credit card debt in the Middle East, can this follow me back to the United States? I left the country for safety reasons; I did not feel safe working there. What are the repercussions of leaving that debt over there? Thanks for your help.

I????????ve been to some other countries and seen many of the same banks there that I have seen in the U.S. but there are also foreign banks too. Basically it depends on who backed the credit and if they report to the 3 major credit reporting agencies in the U.S. If the bank loans money in the U.S. then they definitely report to the credit reporting agencies. If you have the money you should pay them or try to settle with them. If you do not have the money you can just keep an eye on your credit reports to see if they show up. Many banks are linked together now and we are moving toward a global economy so I suspect they will probably show up especially if they know you came here. It really doesn????????t take much effort to report to the credit agencies.
