I received a call today from a company called Ellis Crosby and Associates and they were very threatening and mean. I tried to find out about the debt and make payment arrangements and I couldn't get any answers...just threats that if I didn't send money today I would be arrested and my employer would be sued. Please help. :) Thank you!

Hi Veronica

Welcome to the forums. It seems that you have not heard about Ellis Crosby in the recent times. This company is a collection agency who has been undergoing legal surveillance and their membership has also been revoked by the ACA International.

They are involved in all sorts of unfair collection practices and are harassing the consumers repeatedly. I suggest you to go through the various posts of Ellis Crosby in this forum and acquire some useful information on how to deal with them further.

You can use your consumer rights as per the fdcpa law and send a cease and desist letter asking for verification of the debt. If they fail to validate the debt which is usually happening (similar problems with other members in the forums), you can file your complaints at the FTC, BBB, Florida State Attorney General office and request for urgent action.

Lastly, my opinion to you is that you should think very carefully before you enter into a payment plan with Ellis Crosby. Make sure that you get all the copies of your payments made towards your debt. Your hard earned money should not go in their pockets.

Regards
Roxette

i have a prepaid cell phone and I keep getting phone calls for someone that never had this phone. I bought it new. I tell the people that they have the wrong number and to please take my name off the list. They always agrre to do it and never do. I have returned their call to tell them and they have always said it is removed. They still call me sometimes 3 times a day. What do I do?
