my wife got a call last night from this number 1-877-320-5615. If was a KC Scott. he said he was a lawyer and that my wife had a debt of 8500.00 from 4 years ago and if she did not make arraingements to pay if off tonight he would be forced to file a 1099c with the IRS or take us to court. She can't remember the name of the company but she did tell me that he also called her mother and got her all worried. My wife can't remember aything like that unless it was an old credit card. Can anyone help

If he files a 1099C, the only thing that means is that they are writing off the debt and in the eyes of the IRS that would be considered income. If they are forgiving it, that would not be surprising. If you do have to declare it on next year's taxes as income, then I feel that they wouldn't be able to pursue it.

Do not panic. There are many people who pretend to be attorneys or collectors and harass consumers. You simply wait for the next call. The next time if at all he calls up then ask him the name of the collection agency he is working for, the original creditor, and the address for sending correspondence.

That call is considered initial contact per fdcpa and lawyer has five days to mail you a validation notice letter.Once you have address send them a dv letter certified return receipt mail and make them prove the legal status of this debt.I am currently drawing a blank on getting address info from that number.

I would stay off the phone and continue to try and pin that phone number down. You are gonna need a address to mail the dv letter. If they are a semi-legal agency you will receive one,but I prefer taking the offensive approach.I have had no luck with this phone number so far. Please update your post if you receive any more numbers.

Record these calls if legal in your area. Nine times out of ten, you weren't speaking with the lawyer. These firms have phone banks usually, and you wouldn't be singled out for the attorney to call himself. This is fraud and a violation of the fdcpa. I would say that the "case number" is a violation as well. No complaint has been filed, but they are making appear that a complaint has been filed against you with the court. Complain to the Bar Association where the lawyer is located as well. By being rude and making threats, etc., he has violated the Professionals codes of almost any state I can think of (whether you were actually speaking to this attorney or not, the acts were done under his supervision).

while this is the number they are handing out to everyone, check youre caller i.d. the number we had come up on the caller i.d. was (757) 368-3626, which is listed as a residential. when i called in reference to my supposed debt, i was met with a real a**hole!!! at first he was cool, but soon as i started questioning the name of the company they work for and why the number i was originally contacted by was a residential, i was hung up on! sounds like a bogus scam to be. gonna contact the "better business bureau." i suggest anyone involved do the same. something smells fishy!

This happened to me just yesturday. The guy was pretty rude and told me that he was going to sue my black a$$. I couldnt believe the terms and some of the words that this guy used to me. He claimed that I had a credit card debt with a company I never heard of and told me that I signed a contract in August of 2003 and gave me the address I sent it from. Then I corrected him, like I did not live at that address at that time, and then they start yelling and screaming and all this other stuff. I will be reporting this company and making sure that the WORLD knows about there sceme.

I did some checking and this is all I found on those numbers from the who called us web site:

877-320-5615: Shows 1 call and it said "Glocker", which I looked up on the BBB site and what they had under that name was a Glocker Appraisal Company. I did a search on the Web for Glocker but did not see anything that showed like a collection agency.

757-368-3626: Shows that phone number in Williamsburg Virgina belonging to a Conrad Gray and it is a residence.

That is all I could find right now. Someone else may have some more info.

Household Recovery Services Collection Agency. They are out of Virginia.
841 Seahawk Circle
Virginia Beach, VA
United States
(757)368-1000
(757)368-1370 fax

I dont believe this is the correct info for this CA. I checked the number 877-320-5615 and came up with CR and Associates, also been called C&R. Apparently they are racking up fdcpa violations like they are trying to set a record. Do NOT speak with them on the phone.

when we owe the money we do pay it. This forum never advocates not paying a debt, but we are entitled to get proof that the debt , especially an old debt is ours. I understand that collectors have a job to do, but like all jobs, it must be done within laws and guidelines. I have no problem with collectors who are trying to collect a debt in a decent professional way.
