I have just been served with a civil summons from Discover card. What are the laws in NC pertaining to this? Can they garnish my wages? Can they take control of my checking account?

First of all make sure u answer the summons in the time frame given! Is Discover themselves filing this suit or is it through a collectin agency? Can you possible give more information on this and i'm sure someone will be able to guide u in the right direction!
Good Luck,
Ang

Discover card is one of the meanest credit card companies out there. I hate them. I had an account with them for about $3,600.00 and they sent my account with an attorney company called Zwicker & Associates. They put me on a hardship program and I only pay $25.00 a month. Been doing this for a year now. They won't wait around either. They do mean business. I was in the Hess Kennedy settlement program and that is why I'm in the mess I'm in now. Be sure if you go with a company that they are the real thing. Stay away from this company also. Do like she said above answer the summons.Good luck.

I also had a problem with Discover. They sent me a summons in which I contacted their attorney and have been making payments for about a year. I have about 8 months left then it will be paid off. They were actually very nice to deal with and if I ever had any problems to change a payment date they were more than willing to help.
