Helena, you did what you should have done. If they didn't respond, tough for them. You offered your state law amount. Good job.

Just for your info., I also ripped an email to Eastside today stating again the law. They didn't respond to me either. LOL! Guess they're too busy getting emails from people not agreeing to pay their outrageous amounts! Please file a complaint with the government agencies. I did today since they did not respond to me.

Oh, it's so good to know I'm not the only one Eastside is being retarded to! I swear, I don't think they read anything we send! Did you happen to file a complaint on them to any agencies?

cannr, so far just the BBB. I have all my "files" on my PDL nightmare locked up at work. I do my "business" with the before and after hours at work. I don't want to bring it home, I don't want my child to see whats going on. I have a template done for the AG, FTC, and FL CFO. (Anybody I'm missing?)I pretty much just have to fill in the blanks and off they go.

ald, first off, what's funny is that Eastside is still continuing to attempt to debit my account! Hello! So don't be surprised if you get 30 emails stating "We didn't receive your payment". And do as Anthony posted. See if they are licensed in your state. They are not licensed in mine. When I informed them of that, I received a letter in the mail regarding going to arbitration, which really threw me for a loop and I freaked out totally. Then a few more emails came regarding "not getting payment" Hello again! And then I emailed them AGAIN (for the 40th time) stating everything again and got the email from them demanding $530 and giving me payment options of money gram/western union/credit card/debit card. Ummmmm... what happened to our arbitration date? Guess they opted to skip that! So then I emailed back and told them no way - and off I went and filed every complaint you can think of. Eastside never sent me anything after that last email. I don't know if they'll just "go away". As Anthony posted, they're lending illegally. It doesn't matter anyway because now all the agencies are going to be on them. So, more power to you and everyone else who fights them. But I still love Anthony's response to unlicensed lenders - don't pay them a dime. Actually my DFI did tell me that it wouldn't be recognized as a legal debt, so they (Eastside or a collection agency) wouldn't be able to collect on it. It's just a matter of putting up with their stupid emails and letters.

I should inform everyone about the law President Bush signed last year. This law would apply to an unlicensed company seeking payment. If you have notified a company that they are not licensed to operate or collect in your state, and they continue to send emails, then they are committing a felony with annoying emails, under the new law.
