I've begun my battle with the PDL's. I've mailed, emailed and faxed all my cease and desist letters. I was exchanging emails with paycheck today. The lase email they sent to me stated they would either deduct the principal only and waive the finance fee or I could either go back to paying down or refinancing. I replied that I have more than paid what I legally owe them on this loan and prior loans and as far as I'm concerned and the law is concerned, I am paid in full. They never responded to my email, but this is what it shows when I log into my account:

ATTENTION - IMPORTANT ACCOUNT STATUS
We have your payment arrangements and this will confirm that $ 0.00 will be deducted from your account on 8/3/2007.

Has anyone else had something like this before?

Were you able to log on to your account before you emailed them the last time? If so, what did your status say then? Did it show a "balance due"?

The above was me, sorry. I have this really bad habit of forgetting to log in!

Cannr, yes it did show a balance due. And it still does when I go into my "account summary" The above notice shows under "account status" as soon as I log in and it red font. Yet, when I continue into the account summary it shows my balance due of $150.

I have one with them also. I paid $1155 on a $500 loan and they still want something like $485 to close it out. After some calls and emails they sent me to ARM collections. They were beyond rude with me and I turned both of them into BBB. Paycheck today moved again from the address I had so I just got a letter today from the BBB I filed with that they were forwarding my complaint over to Oklahoma (I filed under their Minnesota address). They are evil evil people and I will not go down without a major fight. I was willing to walk away for a PIF but now I will go after that overpayment and get it if it is the last thing I do!

After I clear up paycheck today, I only have 2 more to go. GFSIL and Payday Yes. $50 to go on Payday Yes(including fees) and $200 for GFSIL not including fees. Next payday I plan on paying them off, and I'm done. I am only grateful that I get and extra paycheck in August, and I'll get to keep it all for myself!

Usually, the red font message is the most recent one when you log on. However, I don't like that it's still stating $150 on there. I would email them or go through their website and ask the question - Why is this still showing $150 when it is indeed paid in full? And another concern of mine for you is GSFIL. Totally illegal. Totally beyond illegal. Did you stop your debits on your bank account?

I do have a freeze on my account, however, I am going in person on Monday to close my account since my bank put through my payment to Cashnet USA!!! I saw that this morning and immediately called them. The bank acknowledged their error and credited my account, or it will be on Monday. But to be on the safe side I am just closing it down and opening a new one.
With this payment that was made to Cashnet USA, my account is paid in full. But...now that I got/am getting my money back, I have a feeling I opened a huge can of worms!

I will say this; most consumers who get online payday loans end up having to close their bank accounts to cease anymore money taken. It is not right, but you should close it, and open another at another bank. If you find out that this company is not licensed to operate in your state, then tell them to fuk off and your not paying them another dime. Be sure to file an online complaint about them to your Attorney General's Office.

Yeah, close it! I am now 787 overdrawn (due to payday loans) and I notified the companies before hand not to debit anymore, so, my bank will refund as soon as I bring copies of all my back up in to them. Which, I plan to do this week....but it's a mess to deal with after the fact!!! So, I now have a new account and will no longer have that account open after I clear up the overdrafts..WHEW...what a freakin mess.

ald, at least you caught the error and the bank reversed it. However, I am with everyone else. If your bank made this "error", I personally wouldn't trust them again. You had a freeze on your account and they still let a pdl go through. Oh, hell no. As Anthony posted, it's best to go to a completely different bank. Just close yours out (I wouldn't trust them. They already made an "error".) and open a nice new one somewhere different. Now, regarding that payment - which would have been your last one - so they didn't get it. I do believe they are licensed, Anthony. I think this is one that is. However, you can contact them and tell them you will send your final payment in. It's going to take a few days for them to even realize that the bank is returning it to them unpaid. It took my pdl's several days to figure this out when they reversed all the charges off my account. So it'll buy you some time if you want to contact them and tell them you will mail in your final payment. That's up to you. You can wait for them to contact you or you can contact them. If it is a licensed business, which I believe they are, just make sure the amount you are giving them is the amount to have it paid in full. Get a letter from them stating that amount is correct and it will be marked PIF and for them to leave you alone. Get it in writing (email/mail) and then send your payment in. If you mail your payment in, please be sure to send it certified return receipt so that you can track it and know that they received it. Once it's received, I would email them letting them know that you're aware they have your payment and to please email you a letter of PIF. That's what I did when I mailed pmt's in. I tracked the damn things and as soon as it was received, I was on the email demanding my PIF letter!

I just had paycheck today send me a pif via e-mail and when I logged into my account, I received the same message in red that you discuss above. I e-mailed them again to confirm that my account was paid in full and not other debits would be coming out of my bank account and they responded that the account was paid in full and no further debits would be coming out of my account. I then sent a copy of this e-mail to my bank for their record.

cstr, so happy you got a PIF! :D However, as stated by dollars, GSFIL is so outragously illegal, there aren't even words to describe it. You can pay them in full and then some and they will insist you still owe them a million dollars more. Unbelievable! Have you filed complaints against these pdl's? If not, you need to do so regardless. Especially GSFIL (one of their MANY d/b/a's). Please file complaints with the agencies. Don't worry about paying their "fees" and all that other stuff. It won't matter. They will insist you still owe them more money. Take it from all of use who have overpaid, only to be told we still owe and get demands to pay via Money Gram to "settle" the account.
