debt validation with allied interstate
Date: Mon, 07/23/2007 - 08:26
Then both the original collector and her supervisor got very angry that I repeated asked for debt validation. I offered to give the supervisor my correct address and he hung up on me.
I called back and talked to the original collector. She told me I was stone walling them because I haven't responded to the information they mailed out originally.
How could I respond if they were sending the information to Florida?
I kept asking for their address so I could send a letter requesting debt validation and she refused to give it to me, telling me I didn't need that information. Eventually I got her to agree to send the information to my P.O. Box. But I'm not sure that the information will ever be mailed.
What does all this mean? Why would they have an address on file for me in Florida? And how can I make sure that this debt they say I owe is legit?

You must send a debt validation letter bt certified mail, return recept. Here is a link to an ecellent example that you can use. You must of course tailor it to fit your situation. The items that are asked for should ALL be provided by Allied. Do not accept partial validation. Also included a cease and desist pargraph to keep them from csalling you.

Allied is a huge collection agency with a reputation of having the poorest trained staff when it comes to knowing the law. They are a bunch a people who sit in cubicles and work on commision. They do not want to do extra. When you get a "supervisor" you are getting another cube where the guy might be making a dollar an hour more than the one you were talking to.

They haven't sent me anything by mail because they had my address listed in Florida, a state I've never lived or had an address in.
When I requested something by mail to my correct address, they became very rude, and stated they didn't have to send me anything.
But thanks for the addresses, I'll send a certified letter requesting validation.

I live in Florida but they were collecting from Minnesota. You never know unless they mail you a statement. Like I said they are very unprofessional for a large company. They have been described as a class action suit waiting to happen. Once they recieve your letter they have to stop all collection procedings until they validate it. The cease and desist is forever. Then they have no recourse except for mailing nondescript bills. They can't be brightly colored or post cards or anything that would tip off your letter carrier that they are a collector. I highly suggest that you read the fdcpa. You can google it up very easily. Most collectors give up when they can't harrass you because they are looking for quick commissions and have quotas to meet. That is why they become particularly obnoxious towrds the end of the month.
Maybe that was me they sent it to. LOL. Yeah, send it to their
Maybe that was me they sent it to. LOL.
Yeah, send it to their main address. If they call you just tell them you know nothing about it and hang up. Once they get your letter they will leave you alone or face paying a thousand dollar fine. And I belive that is for each violation of the fdcpa. Cajunbulldog is the expert on that. Hopefully he will be along soon.
