Try to work out a payment plan with them. Storefront are typically operating legally and have much more pull than internet loans. someone else who knows more about Kansas and their laws will probably be along to give you more information...but my best advice is to try and work out something with them.

I never had one of these loans before but typically storefronts are licensed and regulated closely. This gives them and you additional leverage.Speak to each lender and work out a repayment plan.

hope, contact your store front loans before their due date. Ask to speak with the manager of the store front. Explain you are unable to PIF and ask what you need to do. Some of them will tell you that they have to turn it in to the bank at least once and have it returned before they can set up payment arrangements. Others will just hold your check and you can make payments to them. But contact the manager before the due date, explain you can't PIF, and also tell them the check will not clear - as the money is not there. If you've been a "regular" with them, that might help. They'll know you're not out to try to screw them. Keep us informed as to how it goes!
Storefronts
I have experienced both. If you keep in contact with these store fronts though they are more willing to work with you. Cannr is right though most of them present the check to the bank at least once. Here in Kentucky some of them have a statement in your contract that after they present the check if they check and you have funds in your bank they can ACH debit their money so it is best to contact them sooner than later. Good luck.
momtomom
Good point, momtomom! I'm also in Kentucky. And they do have it on some of their paperwork, that if the check comes back NSF, they can attempt to do ACH withdrawls from your account. So, you need to contact them BEFORE your due date. I mean, if the money is not there, it's not there. Just make sure the money isn't there. And if you need to, put a block on your account so that if they attempt to do ACH withdrawls, they will be rejected. However, as momtomom also said, it is the majority's opinion to contact them yourself (as humiliating as it it) BEFORE the due date and explain what's going on. You may get them to hold the check for you and you just pay on it until it's PIF. However, some that have a "corporate office" may require them to send it through once to be rejected. I think you'll be fine as long as you contact these storefronts.

The store fronts I had always worked with me. Of course during that time, and for a long time, I was a regular! If I couldn't make a payment on the date, I called and they worked with me. I finally got them paid off! I just started paying a little more on the lowest one and worked at getting it paid off. Then I took that payment and applied it to the other one with the payment I was making, and got them paid off. I did this with my credit cards as well Keep us posted..KAren :D
Storefront
cannr - I do believe one of the storefronts, CashTyme, told me that it is KY law for them to send it through the bank the one time and that they cannot take payments until they do that.
Thanks cannr! I know alot of people say pay your highset balance
Thanks cannr! I know alot of people say pay your highset balance and interest off first, but I am a person that need to see progress, or I give up! So, that's why I started paying off my smallest balance cc off, and just put everything I could, 5-10 dollars several times a month in addition to my regualr payment and got it paid off. Then took that payment, added it another small balance and so on and so on. Worked with my pay day loans too. It took time, but it took time to get myself in the mess in the first place..Karen
Bossy...that's kind of like how my debt management program works
Bossy...that's kind of like how my debt management program works...they set up the payments and as the smaller ones get paid off quicker they then take that money and apply it addition to the others..my payment stays the same as the little ones get paid off and then the bigger ones get a bigger payment.
silly
I'm so retarded! So why I got into the mess I'm in? LOL! I swear, that is a wonderful idea! Maybe if I had done that kind of paying, I wouldn't be stuck between a rock and a hard place! Excellent advice to everyone!
P.S. - Anyone ever answer my original question? LOL! If your account has a block on it and a store front pdl puts the check through, of course, it's going to be returned. But, does the check "say" anything on it? The account would not be "closed", but "blocked". Any input, please post!
