Who are they? How much did you borrow? How much have you paid so far and what state do you live in? This will help us answer that question. Have you closed your account of had it frozen. In most cases there is no fraud involved. Texas does have a law if you close you account as a delberate act of fraud you can be charged. I do not know of any other states that have that law.
loan
This was a loan solicited over the telephone? Then you have no documents that you "signed". You are not committing fraud, expecially if it was a "verbal agreement". Let me ask you, what pdl is it? I can gaurantee it's one of the overseas one's that are so totally illegal it's not even funny. Please let us know which pdl it is.

westbury is one of the places & i borrowed $300 & so far i have paid $1185. I live in alabama. I closed my account about 1 week ago
what?
What? You paid $1,185 on a $300 loan? And they are claiming fraud? Oh my God! Thank God you closed that account. You need to send them letters. You need to file complaints. Oh Lord. Do you have contact information for them so that you are able to send letters? Email/address/phone? Oh my Lord. Keep that account closed. Do not give anyone your new account information. This is crazy. Over $1,000 on a $300 loan? And they are using the word fraud? Oh, please post and let us know if you need contact information on this company. I'm sure SOMEONE will have it!

I'm scared to death that they are going to do something to me. I dont see how they can do anything when the whole laon was all verble. I signed no papers. They took my info over the phone & then the next day there was money in my account. I dont want to get in trouble. how do i get in contact w/ my attorney general & what do i say & do.
trouble
You are not going to get into trouble. They are illegal. This is why I asked you if you have any contact information on them. You will need contact information and you need to begin filing your complaints. It's very important. Do not be scared. You are okay. You took care of your bank account. It's fine. Don't give that information to anyone. This was a verbal agreement over the phone with an illegal company. They will threaten you and say all kinds of things to you. The reason they do this is because they are illegal and have no legal recourse to collect their money, so they try to scare you. Do you have information on the company so that complaints can be filed?

I emailed them a letter yesterday & attached a copy of alabamas pdl laws. I have the contact info on one company, but I did the same thing with a company called Big Lmt & when I called to get all of their contact info they would nt even give me my account 1.d. The only thing they would give me was their email address.

Don't be afraid of these places. They will try anything and everything to scare you into paying them more money and if they can get you to continue to pay them, they will bleed you dry. Stay strong and don't let them intimidate you.

tlemley -
they CAN'T do anything to you if they are not licensed to operate in your state. If they are operating illegally, THEY are the ones in trouble, not you.
They may make all sorts of threats - arrest, jail time, etc. But they don't have a legal leg to stand on and they know it. Stand up and fight for your rights. Contact your state's Attorney General and file a complaint immediately and start working on getting a refund.
tlem
tlem, don't let them intimidate you. You are okay. They talk a lot of talk. And as for BIG, illegal. If you need info to file complaints -

Make sure you file complaints with all the agencies. You have done nothing wrong. These places need to be reported for illegally lending.

Ya know, I've said this a million times. These places operate differently, minute to minute. I have never received any emails threatening charges on fraud, suing or anything. With the two I haven't settled, they keep asking for more money than they deserve but that's about it. Does the fact that I live in New York State and they are prohibited, enter into it at all? I am beginning to think so?

Has anyone heard of The BMG Group? Are they licensed in Ohio? I took out $300 in Jan. and have closed my account (paid over $390 in $90 installments).
