After getting harassed at work again by these people and being told that I could not pay by money order, I sent a certified letter to the president of the company and the collections manager complaining about their tactics. I received a settlement offer of 25% of the original amount by mail. It was mailed before my sent letter was received. In other words the two letters crossed in the mail. It stated that I had to pay the amount within 7 days of the date of the letter or I would be turned over to a third party collector. Of course the letter was dated seven days ago. What to do next? Wait for a response from my letters or call and ask if they would extend the deadline. I am betwenn paydays right now and really can't send anything without really strapping myself. Plus the mega rent is due soon. I would like to pay 25 percent of the original amount but I am afraid it will be turned over to a third party anyway. If I call I may get a good person or a bad person because this company has a schizoid personality. Sometimes they start of nice and then they start screaming at you.

frog, call them! Tell them your letters crossed in the mail and you are in agreement with the one you received from them. But explain to them you JUST receieved it, so you can only go by the date you received it - so that means you can't use their date as the "dead line". I think (if you get a normal person), them just hearing you say you're in agreement with their letter might make them happy. It wouldn't hurt to call. If you get an idiot, hang up and call back. You might get a normal person the next call. Or, hell, just call and ask for the manager/supervisor and explain it to them.

Well, frog, maybe with any luck the supervisor will be a 19 year old vs. a 16 year old and maybe even makes $6.00 an hour! Might be helpful! LOL! :D Let us know how it goes.

Well I just called and I got some guy that said I owe 200.00 more than the letter says and all my payments have been returned and they offered me a settlement back on blah blah blah.... He said that they never offered me the one in my hand that I was reading to him. He then switched me to a supervisors voice mail. I left a message about the letter that doesn't exist. I told the supervisor that I can't take calls at work and I will continue persuing my harrassment complaints with the FTC and AG. I also told him about the letter to his main office. I left him my email address. What a bunch of idiots.

What a bunch of morons! Apparently you DID get the 16 year old! Fax the damn letter to them! Hello! They sent you a letter and now they "didn't". Okay.... I'd fax that thing over there so fast. I'm so sorry they're doing this. Morons.

Thanks Sass! You are right. I will think positive! I wonder if they will resond to my letters. This company seems to play the good guy bad guy thing with you to get you to pay. First they call and are really nasty and then they follow with a settlement. This is the second time. Last time they gave me an offer and said I could pay by mail. I asked to have the info emailed so I would have it in writing. Instead they tried to ACH my account. Then they called and were really nasty again. They are just plain weird. They would have been paid along time ago if they would just be cooperative.

Well I called and I did get a good witch but unfortunately she had to answer to the wicked witch of the rules. The rules say they could let me pay the settlement on the 15th if I paid half right then and there on the phone. No way. I am not giving them my info. See how sneaky they are? So then the good witch said she was sorry but I would have to wait for the next settlement offer to come. I told her the letter says I woulld be turned over to a third party. "You might'" she said. Hopefully I will get a response from the main office from my letters. I think I will check my lotto tickets now. Hey you never know!

So, Glenda the good witch had to talk to the Wicked Witch of the East? Good Lord. Hopefully your letters will have an impact. I love the way you bite down and just hang on! Don't let go. I swear, they sound like they have multiple personalities to me. Go figure.
