From a Robert Mathews from "crime division" reguarding US Federal bank. First off I have to say I could barely understand him he had a real thick accent. It sounded like he was calling from a pay phone very loud and muffled. He told me that I was going to be "downloaded" by 12:00 today. He argured with me and I asked him over and over to send me something in writing he refused. He gave me a balance of 2,390 for payday loans. He started arguing with me over the phone and I just said look I cant talk to you now about this. I told him I would have my attorney call him. He gave me this number 641-237-6598. I cant find anything on this company. He just said the company name was "crime division".

Please help!

cher, if they're a legit company, they would have no problem sending you any kind of documentation. I know they can scare the hell out of you. But, most companies that will not cooperate, send documentation, verify anything, threaten, etc. are not legal. If they can not send you anything, you can't do anything. Do not let them scare you. Try not to take their calls any longer.

I didn't see if you responded as to whether these were internet payday loans that you owe on?? But no...no one is taking anyone to jail. They like to threaten people with stuff like that to make you pay up whatever they want you to. Please list what kind of debt you have and we can give you more advice...but I agree with the others...that if they are using tactics like this they probably are not legal ...demand to have copies of the bill ..or judgement or whatever...I wouldn't bother with them at all if they could not produce it!!

Cheri, No, you can not go to jail, in fact, many companies using that threat are under investigation for using such illegal tactics. I said before, get those complaints into your Attorney General's Office. If you need to read about an illegal company that just got sued by the Florida Attorney General for using illegal threats, come to my site, and click on 'Bass and Associates'. Stop allowing those illegal threats of arrest to worry you, you were the victim of a crime. Having debt is not against the law, and most internet payday loan companies are illegal, meaning that they are not licensed to loan in any state but where they are based. Get the complaint in, and you will see just how silly it was to be worried.

I forgot to mention; A collection company must also be licensed to collect in any state that they are attempting to collect. Most are not properly licensed.
Next time, ask for their license number, for your state. They will either hang up on you or become enraged. If they do either or, you can be confident that they are not licensed, making them an illegal company. Be sure to tell them that they are being reported to the Attorney General's Office. I would also like to know, which company was threatening you.

Hi Anthony,

He claims he was from US National Bank Financial Crime Division. I can't find anything on the internet about that company. When i call the number back they don't say what company they are from. They just say front desk and then ask who you are calling for and you name. The number is 641-237-5573.

Thanks For All Your Help.
I wil lkeep you posted.

It'll illegal crap to scare the pants off of you so that you'll cave and send them money. Please don't be afraid.

cheri, if he calls you and you have voice mail, hopefully he'll leave a message. More than likely he'll hang up. But if you do get a recorded message from him, document everything he said, the date, the time, etc. Comes in real handy when filing complaints.

You're welcome! :D And, please know that you're not going to jail. They are so full of you-know-what. They are so illegal. So they use illegal tactics. So sad. I'd hate to have their job. Scaring people half to death. And, don't let them pull the old "run now and pay us with a money gram/western union payment". They tried to pull that on me. Did I send them a stupid money gram/western union payment? No. Where am I? Sitting at home on my computer. Not in jail. Please rest assured you will continue to be fine. Just harrassed unfortunately.

Cheri, find out if it is legal to record phone calls in your state. If it is, take the call from these crooks, and act ignorant of the laws, and try to record them making threats. Then after the threats are caught on tape, be sure to inform them that your recording is being sent to the Attorney General's office.

He just called me again this morning and i asked him for there address. All he said was he was in Creston Iowa. He would not give me a physical street address. He kept saying why is that important to you. I said well send me something in writing stating that what i owe. He got really upset with me and said he was just going to send a investigator and hung up in my face.

Cher, all you can do is laugh at this silliness. They can not touch you. Its almost funny what these people say. Very creative. I hope your fears have been alleviated. Stay strong there is an end in sight. Just know that you will not be arrested or investigated. Again its all scary bulls**t

Thanks kashzan. I am trying not to be worried. I am actually pretty upset that people do things like this. I was wondering why they would have not done this a long time ago if it was so serious.

cheri, see? Once you start asking questions like an address, their license number, etc. they hang up on you. Illegal company. It's amazing. Ask a couple of questions and get a "click" in your ear. Don't even let him bother you. Let it go in one ear and out the other. Give me a break! "Send an investiger". Bring him on! :D

baha! How you been? :D Do a google search on this site for Arrowhead. You'll read posts with stories about them and their illegal tactics. What? You don't want to pay $2000 on that $300 loan? Good grief! These people are crazy.

Keep it up, cheri. You're doing good. Nothing like an illegal company harrassing you! They'll tire of you soon. They'll move on to some other unfortunate person.

No one here should ever allow crooked companies to scare you. Remember, it is they who are violating laws. The minute they dial your phone number to collect, they are violating Federal Laws, because they are not licensed to collect in your state. The minute they threaten with arrest or "proceedings in a court of law", they have broken the law. YOU are the one with the power, not those illegal criminals. They are also bound by law to divulge their contact information, I.E.: address, phone number, and business license if requested. If they do not reveal those items to you, they have broken another law. Get those complaints into your Attorney General's Office ASAP. Do it online.

Being from Iowa I immediately recognized the 641 area code. A quick search revealed the 237 prefix to from Fredericksberg, Iowa 50630.

You cant. There are an illegal company , and they will continue to do what they do best Scare people. These companies just dont go away. They prey on people who dont know any better and believe them. That is why the information here is so valuable. It teaches us what we need to know to get on with our lives

These people rely on the fact that they can scare and intimidate you into paying them, whether you owe them or not!

A consumers best offense, is to become "debt educated" in your rights as a consumer. I am saying this from personal experience. I have been dealing with a collection agency for over a year and a half. They scared me alot in the beginning. After coming here and larning my rights, they don't scare me anymore, and I don't get alot of cr$p from them. They are the ones who told me, "We know from our files that you are very well debt educated"!!

Hang in there, try not to talk with them over the phone, they will only upset you..KAren

They called me yesterday about 15 times at work and I just let it go to voice mail, of course, they didn't leave any message. They called again today and they are very hard to understand and of course they threatened me. I told them to send me the information in writing and they said they couldn't, it says in the contract. They kept asking me if I had the contract in my hands and I said no. He wanted me to say on the recorded line that I was unwilling to settle this. Again, I told them to send me any information in writing. I finally hung up on him. He called right back!

He then put his so called supervisor on the phone and we went throught the same thing. I told them not to call me back work and if they keep harassing me then I would be filing complaints everywhere. I again hung up on him!

I'm sorry this is happening. Unfortunately, it's to be expected. The illegal people are unhappy that they're not getting their illegal money. Try not to take the calls at all. I swear, they will bug the crap out of you, but keep not taking the calls and keep emailing (if possible) for them to stop calling. Eventually, when they figure out they're not going to get you on the phone, they'll move along and harrass the next person. Be strong. Try not to take those calls.

Do a "search" on this site and type that in. There was a thread going a couple weeks back regarding someone getting a call from a man stating he was from this place, etc. I do believe the phone number was posted.

Alright, alright, lets calm down those of you allowing illegal tactics to frighten you. You are not the law breaker, it is the ones violating Federal laws by threatening, lying and misrepresenting themselves as some sort of investigations/police entity. Cherimu, I thought we had this scare tactic thing cleared up. You should never be afraid of these illegal threats. Every Attorney General of every state knows about these crooked ass clowns, calling themselves US Bank. Stop allowing them to bring fear upon you, when you are the victim of a crime. Contact every damn agency known to man, that enforces the law, starting with your AG. Anyone allowing themselves to be scared by illegal threats need to catch their breath, get online, or the telephone and file a complaint. Federal Laws have been broken, and it is your duty as a consumer to assist in ceasing their illegal behavior.
