I just got a letter from northland group in the mail today. I am sure they bought my account from AFS for a past due credit card. I need to know if I should accept their settlement offer. The current balance is $1,008.84 and their settlement offer is for $665.83. What do you think? I kinda sucks because this credit card only had a balance of $200 :x But I know I owe this and need to pay it.

hi puddlejmpr

You are correct....its our moral obligation to pay back what we owe. But in your case, you just cant pay the northland group before validating the debt. I mean you know that you owe money to AFS, but where is the proof that AFS has sold it to them. You should ask them to validate the debt.

Take care
Nelly
