Learning to let go...

I know it is hard - one good thing though - at least it is a driveable distance. My daughter goes to school 2 hours away, and when she was applying to grad school - she was looking at Washington State - 10 hours away YIKES,but she decided to stay where she is, my son just moved out this past weekend. He is only a 20 min train ride away, but still I felt like I lost a part of myself as we are very close too. I completely understand Morningstar...they are always your babies, even at 19 & 23......Just think, maybe you can plan some cool road trips to see things together when you go visit. Feel better, and know that you def do not weep alone!! sniff sniff

OH, Morningstar...I am so sorry to hear your son is moving away, but, very excited for him to have this wonderful opportunity! Think of all the doors this can open for him down the road!!! It is an awesome experience! And as dalfire stated, at least it is still driveable. It seems farther than it really is right now, but, it will get easier for you! I promise!!!!

morning, your children are wonderful! They have such great prospects in life coming to them with this education they're getting! It's wonderful! And I don't blame you for feeling "weepy" :cry: . But your son isn't TOO far away. I guess it'll be weekend trips for you and your daughter to take! Take the Monopoly board with you! LOL! :lol: I do feel for you though. You know, it's not the same, but you can always come here and talk to us. We're your friends! We're not your son, but we're here for you! We can play "pretend" Monopoly! My brother is in Florida and I haven't seen him in like 3 years. I miss the hell out of him. I'm hoping to go down there and see him in the next couple of months. But that's only if I have the money. I was supposed to go earlier this year, but gee, the pdl's ate all my money! LOL! So hopefully, I can see him soon. It's been too long. Florida is a long drive for me to go see him. Like 14 hours. I wish he was closer so I could take weekend trips to see him. So use your weekends to see your son! And have fun doing it! Just think, morning, that your son is achieving his goal. What a wonderful thing.

Believe me I am thrilled they are both doing so well! And I am very proud...Thank you for all your support during my weak moments...:)

Morningstarr - I can totally identify - keep your chin up, it will get better!

Morningstar ~ I can feel your pain. My son will be enlisting in the Air Force on the 13th of this month. I am not sure exactly when he will be leaving for basic, but he will be at Lackland AF Base in TX and then I have no idea where he will be going. It is so hard to let our kids go! They are our babies and always will be and I know for me, I sit and wonder if I raised him right, did I teach everything I needed to, will he hold to his values that I tried to instill in him, did I do the everything I could to for him to teach him to be a good honest person, and many more things. You are lucky that they are only going to be about 3 1/2 hours away. That is not too far for weekend visits or anything like that. Until my folks recently moved, I was 26 hours away from them, now I am between 10 and 12.

Keep your chin up, sounds like you have done a great job with your kids and they are on the road to really making something of themselves! Congratulations, you should be very proud!

Morningstar- I know how you feel! When my son was 19, he moved 1400 miles away, and I thought I would die!! Because of lack of funds, it was 2 years before I could see hi!Had alot of long distance bille though! Now he's since become disabled at 33 years, and lives with me. My youngest is 26 and just lives about 10 miles away, but don't get to see him too often, he's busy with his girlfriend and her kids. With all their problems, sometimes I wish he were further away :lol: Hand in there- this distance will make your bond even stronger!!..KAren :D
