I would like some information such as cost and how to go about consolidating debts.
For example, how much do you reduce the interest? Is it to 0%? How soon can I get started. Can you provide me with a contact number?

Welcome to the Community :D When you registered, if you filled out the box for the free credit counseling, someone will contact you. It is the weekend, so it will probably be next week. Here is a link that explains the benefits of debt consolidation at http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/benefits.html it will give you an idea on the interest, etc. The cost will vary according to debt, income and other things. When you are talking about 0% interest, you may be talking about doing it yourself, which we have a section on. In some cases, the original creditor will drop or lower your interest if you will commit to a payment plan, they usually call it a hardship plan, or something to that effect. Ask questions, we are here to help!!.Karn

Are you currently in default in your payments? If you consider some professional assistance, a debt counselor will negotiate with your creditors and get lower interest rates from your credit companies. Most of the late fees will also be waived off from the total balance. If your accounts are in default for a long time, you might get the lowest rate possible from the creditors. The debt counselor will figure out your options. He will offer you different payment plans and help you in getting started with the program.
