My friends and I have a yahoo social group called the madsocialcalendar and it lets us know when people have an event coming up, like a concert, or a party, etc. But we also post messages, so naturally people talk about different subjects from time to time. However, one of the mods emailed me saying that some people in the group have stopped reading it because with our "chatter" there is too much noise and detracts from the events...ok, am I being overly sensitive or does that just sound stupid. If they don't want to read the posts, just delete them! It's not that difficult. Obviously, it must have been a big fuss because the mod didn't just say on the board Ok, guys, let's stay on topic"...rather she emailed each of us who has posted a lot recently individually...I just have a sneaking suspicion it's more than just staying focused on just events.

That does sound rather stupid. I'd think in that situation they should've posted a "stay on topic" message or whatever, then if it still happened, email you.

But to have a social place that is just for you and your friends, I'd think anything would go unless there are clearly defined rules.
