I, for one, am a huge fan. My mom and I use to always watch his movies together and comment how good looking he was and laugh when my dad would roll his eyes. I was about 15 when he died. I believe I was out at work or with some friends and when I came home I saw on TV that he had died. I know I was in total shock and I was even one of those that cried. I remember being glued to the TV. Even though I know he was into a lot of drugs, we felt it was such a loss of talent. I still have old magazines and newspaper clipping from that time. Still love to watch the old movies and listen to his music. Even my kids enjoy watching them and enjoy the music.
Have been to Graceland many times and have enjoyed it each time I went. I was suprised the first time I went. It wasn't anything like I expected it to be. I thought it was going to be gawdy, but it wasn't. I was amazed with his costumes and his jewelry! If you have never been, need to go.
One year, before I moved to NC, my kids dressed up as Elvis and Priscilla for Halloween. I did their costumes and we did a microphone for my son, he had Elvis sunglasses with sideburns that we picked up for him when we were on our honeymoon in Vegas, he had a cape and the whole nine yards. My daughter had a long black wig on, skirt, boa, false eyelashes, etc. They were so cute!! We even took my son's portable cassette player out with us and he would "perform" by mouthing the songs while the cassette played, for people. He had a lot of Elvis' moves down pat. He praticed and practiced. My daughter would dance.
It is amazing how popular he still is, 30 years later.

When I was a kid I used to buy Elvis Bubble Gum Cards and knew all the words to Hound Dog and Don't Be Cruel.
My older brother had them on 78 RPM records.
I even saw him on the Ed Sullivan Show on his first appearance. OK now you all know how old I am. But thats OK because Bruce Springsteen and I are the same age and he still rocks!

I am really surprised at the lack of response here. I know most of the members are young but there must be others out there with memories.

Okay, no one is OLD! But I have to say, my dad is a major Elvis freak! Anything I find with Elvis, I buy him. I've read the books, watched the movies, etc. I'm DYING to go to Graceland. Sure, when I have money! LOL! But when I was in Gatlinburg, I went to an Elvis museum. It was small, but I was there forever. It had his jewelry, his costumes, pictures of his family, one of his cars. I was amazed at just that. I think I would freak at Graceland! I've already mentioned going to Graceland with my parents. I know my dad would love it. My mother thinks we're geeks, but I would love it too. Hopefully, one day before I die (LOL!) I'll get to hit up Graceland. It's not too far. Memphis, right? Hell, I can drive that!

I wasn't even born yet when he died, but my uncle owned all things Elvis so I was introduced to his music and movies when I was really young. I absolutely love Jailhouse Rock--gotta be one of my all-time faves. And yeah, I think it's amazing how popular he still is so many years later!

I have been to Graceland as well. Whether you are an Elvis fan or not it is well worth the visit. Elvis is unique, how many other artists can only be known by their first names?? One hundred years from now, people will still be listening to the Beatles and Elvis, and talking about them. Btw, my favorite Elvis song is " Little Sister", you hear the real rock-a-billy of the fifties there, that's true Elvis.

To get a quick look, you can look Graceland up on the net. I think it shows a few pictures of the mansion.
I have got several favorite songs: Can't Help Falling In Love, Little Sister, In The Ghetto, If I Can Dream
Actually, If I Can Dream is a really good one
"If I can dream, of a better land, where all my brothers walk hand in hand, tell my why, oh why can't my dreams come true"
