Welcome to the Community :D In our state, it doesn't have to be the sheriff to serve papers, a process server can do it. Make sure your son answers the summons by the date shown, and that he show up in court, or they will get a default judgement. In his answer, he can put that he has just gone through bankruptcy, etc. In some cases, they have a hardship paper or answer for the courts. Have your son call the court clerks office to see what he needs to do in this case. The judge will then take into account his present circumstances, and usually set up payments. I'm not sure about the amounts being different, maybe he can call the attorney listed and find out what it is about. In some cases, you can talk to the attorney, and set up payments. Hope this helps..Karen
THe amounts are probably different due to attorney fees added on
THe amounts are probably different due to attorney fees added on, and maybe even interest if they get really greedy. My only worry is that, even after filing BK, the judge may order that his wages are garnished, because he DOES have a job.
