Re aging charge off accounts
Date: Fri, 08/10/2007 - 22:04
I have noticed that on old credit reports a specific collection account should have been off my report and when I go and get a current report the date of that charge off has changed to another year or two more on my credit report. I have already disputed with the credit bureau's but they insist that it has been "varified" what every that means. I know for a fact the dates of this charge off because I personally spoke to the creditor and asked for this information long ago and still have my notes. so now what do I do. the credit agencies won't help and seem to be on their side. what to do???

Re-aging the old accounts is violation of the FCRA laws. Collect all the documents and consult an attorney who deals in lawsuits of FCRA violations. You can sue the CA and get compensated for the damages done.

Thank you for the reply's. finally i feel like someone is on my side.
I have another question. I received an alert on my credit report and noticed that one of the ones I was disputing with Palisades has been added as new?? with this month as a current date does anyone know why? is that legal? but the worst part is it dropped my score by 30 points!! I was shocked I've worked very hard paying bills on time to keep my score up. so now I'm afraid that the other ones that I have disputed 3 total are going to drop my score even more. please if anyone has information regarding this it would be very much appreciated. Thank you again

Reaging is a serious violation of the Fcra & fdcpa if it is a collection account.Send a sternly worded letter to the collector and the credit bureau stating that they are in non compliance by changing this date.Send these letters certified return receipt.I would send a copy of all this to your state attorney general to see if they can help you. Lastly if this does not resolve this contact the attorney that runs this site.myfaircredit.com He is a consumer attorney and a member of the NACA network.
