I want to begin negotiating the deletion of a Charge Off that I incurred about a year ago from US Bank. The problem is that I don't know where to begin! I've read about sending a certified letter and to keep everything in writing. I've read that it is okay to call and strike an agreement and get it in writing also. I will be paying in full a $790 charge from my college credit card that I flubbed up with them. Any suggestions would be very welcome! :D

A charge off can be deleted by the creditor that placed it there.Per the Fcra a data furnisher is not required to report anything. They are only responsible to report correctly. You would have to send a letter to them agreeing to pay in full in exchange for either 100% positive reporting or deletion of entire account. It is best to use google to find a address for Executive level persons working for the creditor.Send it certified return receipt of course.

Hi, I just posted a question similar to this but no one has responded yet. I just paid a charged-off credit card a few months ago and it now says "Paid after charge-off". I like that it at least says paid, but are you saying I can still try to get it completely deleted? Has anyone ever had success in getting a charge-off deleted after they have paid it?
