What about going to your bank and try to get a loan through them. They might have competetive rates and you would know where they are located.
Have you done any research on the posper.com company?
I would definitely check into them to make sure they are legitimate before giving them all my information.

Prosper does seem to be a legit place. I think they have forums where you can interact with the various funders; you can get advice on how to write a request. Some posters can be brutally honest, though.
