My situation has possibly lead me to file for personal BK

I do however have a question I am hoping someone could answer here.
I live in Ontario and my name as well as my boyfriends name is listing on our mortagage as joint homeowners.
I am under the impression that I cannot file for bankruptcy if I own a home - is that true? The only thing is both our names is the house, none of my debts have his name listed.
Can I still file for personal bankruptcy without affecting the house?
Any information someone could provide would be so much appreciated as I am in a corner here and really don't have any other options.
Thank you.

You will definitely need to contact a bankruptcy attorney in your area. They can answer your questions. Unfortunately, I'm not well versed on Canadian bankruptcy laws, being here in the States. US Federal Bankruptcy Laws may differ greatly from Canadian ones.
