Contempt of court
Date: Sun, 08/19/2007 - 10:01
A creditor filed for garnishment of my account(s). I filed a timely objection, a hearing was scheduled. Bank was instructed to continue hold until futher notice of court. Bank released funds prior to hearing including a portion that is exempt from garnishment under Michigan law ; defying a court order. What is my recourse against the bank and whomever took delivery of the funds?
Find yourself an attorney that is well versed in your state laws
Find yourself an attorney that is well versed in your state laws and they can probably answer that one.
Definitely call a local attorney, generally they will do no-cost
Definitely call a local attorney, generally they will do no-cost consultations over the phone. You said your accounts were seized...I'm going to assume that this means that either you don't work or this is a non-consumer debt, such as a federal debt. Am I correct?
