I was just wondering if I have to know exactly what my debt is and who its with before i apply

I'm sure you can still speak with someone if you have an estimate, but it would be better if you had all the accounts and $ you owe so they can provide you more accurate information. If you gather your statements or look online and print them, this might make it easier to review and will ensure your not forgetting any. This allows the counselor to see everything and help come up with a payment plan.

Hello Lindsbth23,

Yes, I always advise everybody: open up Excel and put up a list of your creditors; what your balances are; you minimum payments; your APRs. Its all information, that you will need when you speak to a credit counselor. It will also help you understand where you stand :)
