Hi-
My husband and I don't have good credit, we've made poor choices and racked up debt- all which we know and are willing and eager to tackle and pay off.
However, over the last year 2 things have happened and been reported on our credit reports which are not our "fault" and I don't know if there is any way to fix these issues and take them off.
1st- We've moved 2 times since last Dec due to work. We had Direct TV and apparantly had a 2 year contract, though we didn't realize it. So my husband deals with them and practically each month talks to someone on the phone about what we still owe. However, we've never once received anything in writing. He has been conversating with them and working with them, then out of the blue allied interstate starts calling us saying we have a debt to be paid. Dallas (dh) calls Direct TV who says they can't even find anything in their records saying we ever had a contract. Allied Interstate calls us every single day- several times a day sometimes, with hang ups, etc. They will only talk to Dallas, but as I have told them, Dallas isn't home during the day.
2nd- With my 2nd child I had to go to the Emergency Room during my 8th month. This was Dec 05. We were in the military at the time and covered under Tricare. Assuming it was paid, I've not thought of it since, until 2 weeks ago when I get a call from a collection agency. Again, I never received a bill or anything. I call the hospital who says they didn't have my address, only my SSN and birth date so they weren't able to send me a bill. They also say I was registered as self pay- so obviously there are some errors. The hospital is working with me and looking into it.
The problem I have is that we are trying to pay off our debts and clean up our credit, but now both of these are reported on our reports. What should we do? I am so frustrated.

Hi Welcome to the forums...I do not have a lot of experience yet with credit repair...but someone should be along soon to answer your questions.
1. On your first question..if this is a 3rd party collection agency I believe you can send them a letter asking them to validate the bill...they would have to show you the contract, payments and balance due. You could also call the Direct TV people and ask them to take the debt back form the collection agency and work with them to clear the balance.
2. With the second one you are going to have to call whomever you had insurance with at the time of your emergency room visit and get thta taken care of...once both bills are paid you can ask them...(while your making arrangements)to correct the entry on your credit reports.

Hopefully someone will be along sooner with more info for you...good luck
